Hi ,

I had my surgery in 1990 and a lot of these tests came after that so I really

can't help you there. I do know that my chemo put me into chemo induced

menopause. There are lots of ladies here on Tamoxfen and I sure they can answer

your question about it. I will keep you in my prayers.

Update...and questions...

I guess my message didn't go, so I am posting again...

Hello ladies,

I have been gone for a while and I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a

good New Year.

I spent those days having my 6-months check-up after chemo. Tons of tests and

most of all showed OK My cholesterol is high but it is expected since I am 12 kg

(about 26 pounds) overweight. New year, new goals... I am puzzled by my hormone

levels though. I had FSH, LH and estradiol done and they came up very low for

FSH and LH (2,0 e 0,2, if I am not mistaken) and at 40 pg for estradiol. None of

them indicate that I am menopausal, but I am not having my periods and the

ultra-sound showed normal sized ovary with small follicles (like they are

dormant) and thin endometrius. It has been 7 months since my last chemo and 5

since I stopped zoladex. The hormone levels do not indicate I am menopausal, but

why I am not having my periods? They were very normal before. Could tamoxifen be

altering the hormonal levels? Am I expecting too much of my body too fast?

Should I go to an specialist? I am so tired of doctors... Does someone have an

explanation for this situation? The thought of

menopause now freaks me out...

Now, my breast ultrasound came back with BI-RADS 3, which means I need to have

a follow-up in a few months. I had such a déjà-vu situation the day of the

mammogram when the cancer was first detected... The technician kept asking me to

repeat the test and I kept remembering the day I had my first mammogram and when

everything began. But the onc doesn't seem concerned although he would like a

MRI, which my insurance doesn't cover. I have an appt. with my new breast doctor

(I am changing him and the onc) in Feb, just before I take my trip to US (very

excited about this!). Anyway, do I need to be more concerned with BI-RADS III?

Thank you girls for being there!

Hugs

I didn't get my periods back until 12 months exactly from chemo (yes, while

on Tamoxifen.) They just shut down my period with Lupron monthly injections

(I have high estrogen level).

Have faith, my dear girl, and just know everything in good time, my dear.

When are you coming to the US and where?

Best,

Did your periods come back 12 months after chemo started or ended?

Just curious as to when I can expect mine to return!

Thanks,

Dear ,

In about a month will be one year since my periods stopped, initially because of

Zoladex, then, I guess, because of chemo. It is good to see that there is

hope... The funny thing is that I want something that scare so many with BC! I

try to remind myself that things come when they should, but I am a very

impatient person. You said you have high estrogen, right? What is considered

high estrogen? I keep wondering if I should go to an specialist or if I should

just wait and see. But then I think how long should I wait? I wanted to have

clear answers, you know? Anyway, I will think about it after my trip...

And, I just remembered that in exactly 15 days I will be a one year survivor!

I am arriving in Dulles on the morning of Feb, 12th. I am planning to visit

Washington for a week and then go to Boulder, where I used to live. I am very

excited about this trip! It will be the first in three years! I can't believe I

haven't had vacations for so long... Anyway, I have this month to prepare for

the trip, and now what is worrying me most is finding accommodations (on our

very low budget) in DC (if you, or anyone else have a suggestion...). But I have

faith that one way or the other things will resolve.

Hugs

I live in Denver and wish you a great time in Boulder, since you

have lived there in the past I am sure you love it for its unique and

wonderful " flavor " . Feel free to e-mail me personally and perhaps we

can get together (even a phone call) while you are so nearby.

in Denver
