I had my regular dental appointment this month and do you know my insurance company will pay for the entire visit if I have a flouride treatment, but if I don't have the treatment, they won't pay all of the visit? I found that rather disturbing. The hygenist told me that the cost wasn't any different including the flouride treatment. I told her let's just say we did and skip it. I told her I didn't approve of the use of flouride since discovering the truth. She agreed to skip the treatment and went ahead and marked it as done. :o) I know she really shouldn't have done it that way, but I was glad she did. wrote: Fluoride is a toxic waste substance that the government could not figure out what to do with the massive extra quantities of, so the lie was perpetrated on the public

about the benefits to the teeth of this stuff. It causes brittler bones, though thick temporarily, same thing with the teeth. It is extremely toxic to the thyroid, and, whatsmore, used to be used to quell a thyroid storm attack and hyperthyroidism. That has been grossly documented through time, not just a supposition or a guess. Great Britain has outlawed it's use in their waters recently because of all of this, but the U.S. just doesn't seem to think it's people are smart enough to catch on, I don't guess. After all, what would they do with all this toxic waste and where would they put it? It blocks the thyroid hormones, this is a well known fact. Re: RAI after effects> Is there a

Hi, all,

I found this thread interesting -- something I asked my dentist about recently. She pointed out a couple of things. First of all, flouride is one of the elements on the elemental table -- not toxic waste, but rather a naturally occuring element. (like hydrogen, oxygen, etc.). She also said that there have been studies of populations of people that haven't shown a correlation between flouride intake and cancer or other health ailments. I'm going to look this up, because I'm still real interested.

As for the flouride-thyroid connection, I can tell you that both of my grandmothers had autoimmune thyroid disease (Graves' disease) and had their thyroids removed -- and they drank water long before flouridation. I am the only one of my cousins (there are 12 of us) who developed autoimmune thyroid disease -- and we lived in the same geographic area growing up. Same water.

I don't think we can attribute thyroid disease to any one factor, but rather a combination of genes and environmental factors that trigger the disease into being active. This is true of lupus, which I also have, and other autoimmune conditions. It would be nice if there were an easy answer to "why?", but right now, there really isn't.

Amazing that your dental office did do that—they can get “busted” by the Insurance company, phew!

There are many things on the periodic table that I would not want in my body although you won't find fluoride as a separate element there anyway. You will find the base element Fluorine. A little history below. I read a book called Fit For Life II which talks about fluoride and how it was dumped on us. As a byproduct, it was difficult and expensive to dispose of, until they convinced people and governments to put it in our water! There were original cavity studies done by the first tooth paste company to use it, but those studies were done in very impoverished communities where brushing their teeth with anything would have caused improvement. The data was correct, but the data was skewed. I refused the treatments for both of my children who are not 28 and 30. One has a few cavities, the other has none. Check out the uses below. LOL, ya never know whether to laugh or cry!

The fluoride/aluminum association is of particular importance as it relates to Alzheimer's Disease. Aluminum by itself is not readily absorbed by the body. However, in the presence of fluoride ions, the fluoride ions combine with the aluminum to form aluminum fluoride, which is absorbed by the body. In the body, the aluminum eventually combines with oxygen to form aluminum oxide or alumina. Alumina is the compund of aluminum that is found in the brains of Alzheimer's disease sufferers. In the brain, proteins bind to the alumina, and "that is the key to the plaques and tangles which are the hallmarks of this terrible disease".

Sodium fluoride, a hazardous-waste by-product from the manufacture of aluminum, is a common ingredient in rat and cockroach poisons, anesthetics, hypnotics, psychiatric drugs, and military nerve gas. It`s historically been quite expensive to properly dispose of, until some aluminum industries with an overabundance of the stuff sold the public on the terrifically insane but highly profitable idea of buying it at a 20,000% markup, injecting it into our water supplies, and then drinking it.

Fluorine Properties

Fluorine is the most electronegative and reactive of all elements. It is a pale yellow, corrosive gas, which reacts with most organic and inorganic substances. Finely divided metals, glass, ceramics, carbon, and even water burn in fluorine with a bright flame.

Until World War II, there was no commercial production of elemental fluorine. The nuclear bomb project and nuclear energy applications, however, made it necessary to produce large quantities.

Uses

Fluorine and its compounds are used in producing uranium (from the hexafluoride) and more than 100 commercial fluorochemicals, including many high-temperature plastics. Hydrofluoric acid etches glass of light bulbs. Fluorochlorohydrocarbons are extensively used in air conditioning and refrigeration.

The presence of fluorine as a soluble fluoride in drinking water to the extent of 2 ppm may cause mottled enamel in teeth when used by children acquiring permanent teeth; in smaller amounts, however, fluoride helps prevent dental cavities.

Elemental fluorine has been studied as a rocket propellant as it has an exceptionally high specific impulse value.

THESE insurance companies!! My tiny little AmeriPlan WON'T pay for fluoride treatment, duh! Why are they all so different? I didn't have it the last time around, but it's been awhile since I visited a dentist. Need to. No fluoride for me.

I've read all this before, Judy, but it just makes me angry and sick to read it all again. The lack of caring, so that some someones can dispose of something and make plenty of money in the whole process.
