I was just looking at those magic bullets this weekend but didn’t get it.

I want something to do quick and easy single-serve stuff but I am the type of person to buy stuff, use it a few times and let it collect dust.

Sounds like you use your bullet — what kinds of stuff do you make with it? I was wondering if it is strong enough to do a bit of home-made peanut or almond –butter in?

Yes! I used a blender for a while and now I have a " Magic Bullet " and I fill the cup and away I go. Yum... Judy

You are making me want to go get my blender!

I have not tried peanut butter, but that's a great idea. If I do, I'll let you know. I'm thinking that I would have to add a little oil or something to get it going. The times that I've tried to chop nuts in it, it did mash them enough at the bottom to be 'butter', but it didn't rotate them and the rest just stayed on top. My daughter uses it to grate cheese and she said it's great for that.

I just do my morning shake in it, so I use it every day. I wanted one that I could travel with so that I don't have to eat breakfast out all the time. I bought mine on ebay for $40 with shipping and it has the blender attachment as well. This summer, I'll make some smoothy drinks for those hot nights too... Judy

I think I will get one this weekend — I am the only “health nut” in the house so I just need enough for one :)

Sounds perfect – do let me know on the peanut butter if you try it before I do :0

Sue,If you are willing to spend some cash, the Vitamix is unsurpassed, in my opinion.  I have had mine for over six years and it is still going strong. I make nut butters, grind cheese, make flour, make smoothies, humus (my family will no longer eat the stuff from the store).I paid a LOT for mine, about $500.  They have come down since i got mine. My friend in FL just got one (after my years of prodding her) at Costco for around $350.  They have automatic shut offs so people like me who burn out motors every three months can't break it. You can even grind chicken and beef to make lean burgers. This is one item that stays on my counter.... while my george foreman, which I still do love, but don't use everyday, gets put away.JackieI was just looking at those magic bullets this weekend but didn’t get it.I want something to do quick and easy single-serve stuff but I am the type of person to buy stuff,  use it a few times and let it collect dust.Sounds like you use your bullet — what kinds of stuff do you make with it? Hi Jackie --

My mom had one of those-! And she made everything from scratch. When she died, we gave it to her neighbor friend whom she was close with.

I never understood what the heck she was always “cookin’ up” LOL! But now I am getting the drift of this “eating healthy” thing – man it took me a while to see the light.

I am just worried if I get a machine like that, I won’t use it — since I am the only “picky” eater (read: health conscious) one of us at home and make stuff just for me -- I also am culinary-challenged and barely make anything other than fish, chicken and pasta — other than my bone-broth soup ---

Sounds like you put yours to good use —holy cow! I may start with the bullet and then see how I do with sticking to mixing stuff up – I eat like 10 things total: yogurt, fruit, cheese, tuna fish, eggs, nuts chicken, tons of fish, beef broth, beef once a month, rice, pasta, veggies and salad, my bone broth soup and popcorn — that’s about it! Once in a blue moon, pizza or some kind of dessert .... How boring is that? I just never had a taste for much else...

If you decide to get the 'Magic Bullet', I recommend that you buy the real deal and not a clone of the thing. There are other great machines out there for peanut butter etc., but I bought one company's knock off of the bullet and I took it back as it was not nearly powerful enough. Just so ya know... Judy

Bored stiff? Loosen up...Download and play hundreds of games for free on Yahoo! Games.

Hi Judy,

Oh yeah, I plan to get the “real deal” LOL!

Some things just can’t be imitated :)

Thanks!

Sue

Sue,That's not boring at all. At least you know what you like and what agrees with you. It seems every-time I figure out what agrees with me, it stops agreeing with me! LOLThe frustrating part of a smaller machine is it doesn't have the power you need to do certain things.  I went through blender after blender, and that was just with margaritas! LOLIf you happen to see a demo of the Vitamix (let me interject here that I have no affiliation with them, just a consumer who is sold) stop and give it a listen. My friend who just got one is a conscious eater as well, she said the demo was great, and they used a lot of things like concentrates too, to make things for everyones busy lifestyle easier. I even use it to break down mozzarella cheese for lasagna, so i don't have to buy the dried pout stuff or sit and grate all day.  Check out their website. So.... if you come across one at a garage sale... get it :)JackieHi Jackie -- My mom had one of those-! And she made everything from scratch. That's good to know..I did buy the "real deal" about 12 months ago. Now I'm seeing the imitations advertised on TV, soooooooooo much cheaper than what I paid and was wondering whether I had made a mistake....now I know...........Meleese in Oz xxx
