Guest guest
Hi All, I was wondering if any of you know what your child's intervener's make. Peyton's para is about to have to possibly take a different job because she doesn't make hardly any money. Peyton's teacher has talked to the director of Spec Ed about getting her a raise(before the other job issue came up) to no avail. Mike and I are going to approach the director and wanted to have some info. about what others are getting paid. She basically makes what other paras make and while she's not had tons of formalized training(there's not tons out there(intervener wise) for her) she grasps the whole intervener model very well, has been w/ Pey for 4 & 1/2 years now. She's indispensible and knows Peyton's comm. very well and for that she's irreplacable. Next year he's transitioning to a middle school so needless to say this is not a good time for this to be happening. She's been very private about all of this. Tonite is the first I'velearned of her situation because I called Peyton's teacher about another matter. She told me she (his intervener) is having a really hard time because she really needs to leave to make more money elsewhere but she's so torn because of Pey. She loves him like her own. I know fully trained interveners in Canada make probably more than our teachers make. But for those of you who have basiacally paraprofessionals who have been trained on the Intervener Model that is what I' m interested in. It's the best way to compare apples to apples so to speak. Thank you Corrie
