Guest guest
I just had a lumpectomy and will have to have chemo and radiation. Does anyone know anything about this product? I have a friend who used it during radiation and is strongly encouraging me to use it, but I'm afraid her faith in it may be misplaced. I've Googled it and not found anything that I consider authoritative about its benefits. Thanks for any info, Ellie
Guest guest
Ellie, Is it a supplement, a cream? If its not FDA approved I would not take it. Ask your radiation doctor if he knows anything about it. If it was that good you would have been able to find it on the net. Guest guest
Hi, nne, it's a " super soy " drink from China, and definitely not FDA approved. I saw an article today from a reputable journal about indications that a certain kind of concentrated soy can help with breast cancer. But that's the kind of things these companies do. They take a little bit of scientific information, and extrapolate it out to suggest that their product is what you need. And, by the way, the stuff is $51/bottle, and you're suppose to drink a bottle a day while on chemo and radiation. We're talking big money here. Ellie 3b. Re: Haelan 951? Guest guest
Research indicates ALL soy products create excess estrogen, even if the " pitch " is that its the good estrogen, not the bad. Estrogen, period, signals breast cells to grow. I would not ingest Haelan or any soy products until I had a very clean bill of health. Guest guest
Well now, that just wouldn't be a problem for me! I am allergic to soy products. I can handle soy sauce within reason, but tofu or soy milk or when it is used as a protein replacement....oh no! I get what I call " Cinda's Quick Weight Loss Program " (most people just call it diarhea..LOL!) Guest guest
I can't tell from what I've read whether or not the " no soy " debate is settled. There seem to be two schools of thought. I saw an article in a reputable journal yesterday that a certain concentrated soy " exhibit(s) marked antiestrogenic effects on estrogen receptor function and estrogen-dependent tumor growth in vivo " . I realize what one sees in a test tube and what actually happens in a body aren't necessarily the same. Whatever the case, given the unsettled nature of this debate, I can't rationalize doing soy.
