Also what does small breasted have to do with it? I am small breasted too, is there something I dont know or wasnt told? Guest guest
I had DCIS which composed 25% of the 2.5 cn tumor the rest consisting of IDC. Given that the breast was small in relation to the tumor I had no choice but a mastectomy. Personally I think the DCIS escaped during mammography while it was hiding behind dense tissue! I had regular mammos from 2000 on. Think of a tube of tooth paste. The past is in situ unless you put the entire tube in a vice, leaving the cap on, and squeeze it, then you have invasive tooth paste! Guest guest
oh ok gotcha, I understand now. I can see how having small breast will do that. Where they took out mine Its like dented in a little, the breast definatnly looks different. char > > Hi Char, > > Sorry to confuse you. > I meant to say I had DCIS & IDC (2 tumors=1.05cm). > Extensive DCIS meant I had multiple sites, and because I am small > breasted, removing the tumor & DCIS wouldn't have left me with much :-) > > I think in the US the surgeon will try breast-conservation, unless other > factors (genetic history, or in my case removing alot) warrant > otherwise.
