OK, I think I will share this with you too. This is my CHARGE Mother

Behavioral Phenotype:

CHARGE Mother Behavioral Phenotype

1. Above average cognitive functioning, and near genius when it

comes to baffling medical terminology.

2. Persistently focused on advocacy for her child.

3. Experiences little need to be socially appropriate when

facing difficult professionals.

4. Repeats things over and over because the professionals need

extra reminders.

5. May experience sensory meltdowns after school meetings and

medical appointments.

6. When confronted with difficult professionals may lose

behavioral control.

7. Professionals may have a hard time getting them off track and

shifting their attention to irrelevant perspectives.

I love this Tim! But I think it applies to some Dad's too.

I had an advantage when our son was born, in that my professional background

provided me with familiarity to medical terminology and some of the problems

Evan faces. My husband, , is a carpenter--he had no such advantage. But

he continues to amaze me with the depth of knowledge he has accumulated over the

past year, the speed at which he is learning ASL (mostly on his own, at home

with our son during the day), and the voice he has found to advocate for our

son's needs (my husband is pretty shy by nature).

So cheers all around to all of the wonderful Moms and Dads out there, who work

so hard every single day to make sure that their son or daughter has the best

life possible!

(mom to Evan, 14 months and wife to , truly a Super Dad!)

This is a keeper! Thanks for sharing, Tim Now for a behavioural phenotype

of some of the professionals I've dealt with...okay maybe not!

Hi Ellen. Your mum was certainly one of the role models for my

behavioral phenotype. I hope you make it, but if not, I will certainly

give Rob a hug for you.

Tim,

My daughter is a sophomore at CMU and she had the pleasure of listening to

you speak about CHARGE iin her psych class this past week. She did introduce

herself to you at the end of your lecture. She got a lot out of what you

said and she really appreciated listening to you. Of course, her brother

(our son, 15) has CHARGE and his name is Bradley.

Thanks so much! Cindy Krencicki

Hi Cindy,

It was really nice to meet . Also, thanks for having

participated in some of my research! I did email to see if

she might be interested in helping with a research project we are

interested in doing on CHARGE siblings. I have not heard back from her.

Maybe she does not use her CMU email. If you have contact with her, ask

her for me.

Thanks,

Tim
