Guest guest
In addition to checking with your state's deaf-blind project, I suggest asking any other agencies that serve your child if they can assist you to attend the Charge Syndrome Conference in Costa Mesa, California. That includes the school district. The answer may be " no, " but it doesn't hurt to ask. When we attended the 1998 Conference in Houston, we got a check from the Calif. Dept. of Developmental Disabilities for the conference fees. There is a resource center associated with our regional center for developmental disabilities that processed the application for us. They generally did not cover out-of-state parent education, but I wrote a letter explaining that CHARGE is a rare syndrome that had no local events planned, that I would share the information with others (which I did), and that we would cover the transportation. I asked again for the 2007 conference, but I was told that they don't have any funds now. However, I was able this year to get Danny's school district to pay for his teacher, aid and OT to attend! You may not be as lucky, but it doesn't hurt to ask! Guest guest
Hi Martha, it would be so wonderful if you and Andy could come!! It would be wonderful to see Miss K, as well, but you two may want to take advantage of 's house and come just the two of you. Anyway, I am off for an appt, but will be back in touch tomorrow. It sounds horrific out by you and more on it's way!!! love pam RE: Help with conference costs Pam, Thanks for the much needed nudge. I'll try my best to email Meg and Larry tomorrow. So much has happened here - our @13 days without power because of an unbelievable ice storm, emergency trip to a dog " internest " in Kansas City, over $2000 in tree work, phones which apparently had power surges, a cousin contemplating suicide, and a general malaise that lingers even now. I want very much for Andy to be able to join me at this conference --- he's provided childcare at the national db conferences but has never really gotten to take part. We won't know if his summer classes will " make " for awhile, so I just haven't done a thing. Now, you've given me another nudge; please keep it up. I'm moving in slow, slow motion right now.
