Guest guest
Carol, I'm unclear why you won't be doing any further follow-up for one year? Or is that just with your radiologist? Have you been genetically tested? If you are already doing a hysterectomy, there is a major increase in ovarian cancer if you have one of the genes, and you might want to consider an oopherectomy at the same time. Unless that is typically done with a hysterectomy, I just don' t know anything about it. Ovarian cancer is symptomless usually and is not generally caught soon enough for successful treatment. Triple negatives are often gene carriers, though I don' t have the numbers handy. e
Guest guest
Hi e, I do have more follow ups, but with the oncologist. It is the radiation onc that I see yearly from now on. Yes, I have been gene tested and have the BRCA1 mutation. I was told by my onc that I should have my ovaries removed so that is why I decided on a complete hysterectomy (my age being 49). I surgery is in about 2 weeks, Jan 22, so everyone please keep me in your thoughts then! Thanks! Carol > > Carol, > > I'm unclear why you won't be doing any further follow-up for one year? Guest guest
Carol, You will be in my prayers for your surgery. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo oopherectomy a few years ago and didn't have any problems. You just have to be careful for a few weeks and get lots of rest and not lift anything.
