Guest guest
Dear nne, Thanks for your reply. I am wondering how much time you spend in the hot tub and how often? Have you had the hot tub ever since your surgery? Also I've been advised by either a breast cancer nurse or a pamphlet from the Breast Cancer Council to avoid hot tubs to lessen the risk of lymphodema. Am wondering if you or anyone else know much about this. I was thinking that perhaps it is still ok if I keep my arms out of the water? Still grappling with the swimming issue. Apart from making me feel great swimming is something that has helped my back ever since I had the back surgery. So now I have to decide perhaps between a strong pain free back and risking a recurrence of cancer. I'm trying to find the exact mix of drugs and treatments and food and lifestyle for my daughter's sake. She is adopted and has already watched one mother die. There is so much information and sometimes one approach is incompatible with another. I'm lucky to be alive and feeling energetic and so healthy but I guess I'm scared because when the biopsies showed 3 malignant tumours I also felt incredibly well. It was hard to believe something so bad could be happening inside of me withut me knowing it. Meg > > Welcome Meg, > Sounds like you got through treatments great. Thats wonderful. I don't swim so can't answer your question. I had surgery in May 1990. We do have a hot tub and have to but chlorine in there and so far I haven't had any problems. I will keep you in my prayers. > Hugs > nne > Breast Cancer Patients Soul Mates for Life > http://www.geocities.com/chucky5741/breastcancerpatients.html > BreastCancerStories.com > http://www.breastcancerstories.com/content/view/433/161/ > Angel Feather Loomer > www.angelfeatherloomer.blogspot.com > Check out my other ornaments at > www.geocities.com/chucky5741/bcornament.html > Lots of info and gifts at: > www.cancerclub.com > Introducing myself > > > Hi, > Have just joined this group. I tested negative to Herceptin. All my lymph glands were removed. On the right 1 out of 13 tested positive but on the left 9 out of 18 were positve and there was some spread to the surrounding skin area. Guest guest
Meg, We got the hottub about 8 yrs after my surgery. We would go in it about twice a week. We don't use it very much any more. Kind of hard to get in and out of. We are both in our 60's. Guest guest
Meg, I see an occupational therapist for the lymphodema or should I say the prevention of it . I haven't had any problems thus far. a little swelling in my fingers but the therapist gave me some wonderful exercises to do and I was fitted with a sleeve to ware on my effected arm. My husband and I get in our jacuzzi quit often. You shouldn't get your arm in it if it is over 100 degrees. but I still do. It really makes my back and my other should feel better. You just have to do everything in moderation. After I get out I always shower and put on a real nice moisturizer, Best of luck to ya. tt. & nne Svihlik moochie1@...> wrote: Meg, We got the hottub about 8 yrs after my surgery.
