CHAT TOPIC OF THE WEEK : MARKETING BY SLPS FOR SLPS

The next themed chat of the Corporate Speech Pathology Network

will be at 9pm EST, on Tuesday March 1, 2005. The discussion

will be facilitated by Deb Kowalczyk, MA, CCC-SLP. The topic

of this week's chat will be Voice Work With Business Professionals.

After having spent 20 years as a certified, licensed speech pathologist

in a variety of settings, including 9 years as manager of 2 speech

departments

of community hospitals, Deb created Clearspeak, a private practice with the

main focus on improving the speaking skills of professional speakers. Being

an

actor herself, she began working with her fellow thespians on improving their

voice and diction, then branched out into the corporate world, working with

foreign born business professionals on accent modification. Having worked

with

actors on voice enhancement, Deb Kowalczyk has recently started incorporating

this work with her business and foreign accented clients. In most cases,

they

have embraced this and found improving their voice quality has also helped

them improve their communication and confidence in speaking.

In addition to her M.A. in Speech Pathology, she has received continued

training

with Patsy Rodenburg (Vocal Coach of the Central School of Speech and Drama

in

London), ph Stemple, Boone, Lorna Sikorski, and Schwartz.

In

June of 2005, Clearspeak will have been in operation for 5 years. Deb is a

member

of ASHA, VASTA, CC-ASTD, and CORSPAN.

Corporate speech-language pathology is a specialized area of practice. We

provide

work-related training to enable employees to become effective communicators

in

the business and professional world. We promote our services both to

individuals

and to companies that may benefit from improved communication.
