Guest guest
I am way behind on the messages recently. I did get on this morning and jump around a bit on the board. I believe someone may have posted looking for a good therapist in the Tampa area. There is a really awesome therapist in Valrico. Her name is Kogut Keller. She was my son's first therapist at the children's hospital in my town until she moved there. She is originally from NY & has had much experience with apraxic children. If anyone is interested in contacting her just email me & I will get the info to you. Also Kim McCall mentioned there is a apraxic preschool in Tampa. I did not know about this. Could you please get me more information on this as I have had 4 new families join my Tampa Bay area support group & would love the information. From what I have found there are communication classrooms that deal with all type of communication disorders or VE classes. That is really interesting to me if there is something like that. I am seeing a big number of parents contacting me from Tampa that have apraxic children but can't imagine the numbers high enough for a school just dealing with apraxia. Please email me more info on this so I can pass on to the parents in my group. Just to update anyone on my now soon to be 7 year old son that is in mainstream 1st grade. He was nonverbal at age 3 1/2 & now at age 7 next month is doing great. He is a little delayed in reading but we are working on that. He starts the earobics program after spring break. And is great at math. He loves school this year & is VERY popular especially with the girls (3 call the house). I am hoping working really hard over the summer we can get him caught up. Hope to get back on the list as a active reader & poster, happy spring break to all enjoying spring break this week with your children. , want to come over to my coast soon??? Tammy Ingram enjoying warm weather in FLorida!!!!
Guest guest
Hi Tammy: The preschool is through USF the College of Communication Science Disorder it is not affiliated with the hillsborough county school system it is private pay and it is run with grad students and supervising professors. I applied from a recommendation from a couple of other Mom's in Tampa. There was a waiting list. I am not sure how long it is now if any one else would like any other information about or other resources in Tampa please feel free to pass on my Email. As I posted earlier I am affiliated with the early steps program and may have been exposed to more resources then others.
