Guest guest
I was sent this link today. " Scientists in New Jersey are claiming that children with autism are unable to metabolize key fatty acids that fight brain-damaging inflammations. They have already developed urine/blood tests to identify at-risk children. A preventive cure to autism may be as simple as a 'therapeutic cocktail' of fatty acids. Human trials could start later this year. " http://science.slashdot.org/science/07/02/19/2252244.shtml and wonder if the link between autism and charge may be due in some part because so many charge children have a slightly different diet to other children. Guest guest
I was listening to a news report on tv and they mentioned there may be a gene that causes autism. Im skeptical of " cures " but i have no doubt that diet changes can cause behaviour improvement in other conditions so it woould make sence that changing the diet of an autistic child could improve the child, but I doubt it would compleatly " cure " them. Guest guest
Ian, The biomedical approaches to autism that have been developing in the last 10 years are phenomenal. Our daughter with CHARGE and autism, has improved quite a bit in language, behavior and social interactions. In 1997 we learned there was a likelhood that our daughter had an omega 3 fatty acid deficiency. She has been treated for that condition ever since. I firmly believe that your speculation about diet is at least in part true. Thanks for sending an interesting link! I fully believe autism is treatable and in some cases curable. Mom to Kendra, 20, CHARGE (and autism, and responding to treatments aimed at helping those with autism), , 26, and Camille, 29 possible cure for Autism I was sent this link today. Guest guest
Chantelle, There are many children and adults with autism, and autism spectrum conditions who have been treated very successfully with dietary interventions. Some of them are 'recovered' from autism. Usually there are some other treatment components in addition to the diet. But, the ones who I know that have recovered from autism, have primarily not used psychotropic drugs. Some have healed on anti-viral or anti-yeast medications, though. Usually in combination with dietary interventions. I find it amazingly encouraging and promising. :-) Re: possible cure for Autism I was listening to a news report on tv and they mentioned there may be a gene that causes autism. It is exciting and scary to see where things will go and how long it will take!! pam Re: possible cure for Autism Chantelle, There are many children and adults with autism, and autism spectrum conditions who have been treated very successfully with dietary interventions.
