Guest guest
Hello ladies happy new year to all. Mrs Katz, my name is Chantal diagnosed with DCIS in 08/03/06, had surgery on 09/11/06. I choose to remove my good breast as prophylactic because I didn't want to worry about my cancer coming back on the other breast, just to have peace of mind and less risk of recurrence on the other breast. I don't regret my decision, at least I had both breast for 45 years and hates to lose them due to cancer, but I am thankful to be alive. I had breast reconstruction done, skin ex panders placed in immediately after surgery, but I never heard of Aloderm. My prayers are with you. Take care. & nne Svihlik moochie1@...> wrote: I have never heard of AloDerm can you tell us what it is and how it is used? There are ladies here that have had both breasts taken off. Guest guest
I had bilateral mast. in feb 05. My right breast was healthy. But I decided to go ahead and have both done. I didn't want to be at a point in my life where I couldn't do the other breast recon for whatever reason. I have also read that when having recon done symmetry is very hard when you do recon on just the one. It was my second time having bc in the left breast and a lumpectomy and radiation was not going to work for me so I made the decision to do both and I don't look back and I try very hard not to second guess myself. When I start thinking about the what ifs. it drives me crazy. So I just don't. I get busy doing something anything to take my mind off it. tt. Guest guest
Thank you. What a nightmare this is and it's just the beginning! I'm still trying to digest this whole new phase of my life and it is devastatingly sad. Theresa Towner ttfntatbcx2@...> wrote: I had bilateral mast. in feb 05. My right breast was healthy. Guest guest
it's a tissue that is used (comes from the dead body) for sort of a cushion between the implant and skin. It is radiated, it's not a live tissue, so there is no risk (supposedly) of getting any kind of decease. It doesn't have live cells anymore and it becomes a part of the tissue and can't be removed ever. So far everything I've read about seems to indicate it's a positive thing and nothing to be afraid of. It is creepy though when you realize where it comes from. I wanted to hear from other people who may have used it during reconstructive surgery. & nne Svihlik moochie1@...> wrote: I have never heard of AloDerm can you tell us what it is and how it is used?
