Guest guest
Carol, What is your er, pr and her 2 neu status? I am a triple negative, and all of the research my family has done (and my brother is a cancer researcher) indicates that if one is triple negative, a mastectomy is not just an option to consider, it is the only one to choose. I answered because you asked - as I hesitate to give other people advice on something so devestating - but that's what I picked, and I did a double just to be sure. My mother also died at age 33, and two of my maternal cousins. One maternal aunt is living today who did have a mastectomy. Wish my mom had done the same. Both mom and aunt had recurrences in the opposite breast. e
Guest guest
Thanks for responding! Yes I am a triple negative. My rad oncologist said at one of my appointments " We don't know much about you triple negatives. " How's that for giving one hope? I wish I had read your post last night, because I just went to see him today for my follow up appointment, now I don't see him for a year. I have come to the conclusion that a mastectomy is what I should have done too. Seems odd that none of my doctors mentioned it even in passing. Guess they make more money on me if I go the chemo/rad route, eh? As I said in my post, I go Jan 22 to another city (Pittsburgh) and hospital (Magee's Women's) to have a hysterectomy. I am going to ask the doctor who is doing the surgery (she is a gyncological oncologist) about her thoughts on me being triple negative and mastectomy. Thanks again and I'll post when I have more news. Carol > > > > Carol, > > What is your er, pr and her 2 neu status?
