I can say this because I am a heart attack survivor, died twice , saw the light. My dad is also a survivor & had bypass. Missing the blood pressure pills for a day is not that critical, if it were people would be dropping like flies. Both, me & my dad have forgot our pills a day on more then one occasion. My mother has horrifically high pressure & has missed hers & not ended up in the hospital. When you take ANY medication or most vitamins for an extended period of time it builds up a supply in your body & you will be able to miss a dose & not have a visit to the hospital. I want you to consider one more thought. We are all on here saying how the doctors don't know shit & don't listen to us.....maybe you friend had a complaint that doc just blew off in past visits? It just so happened he had an event that sent him to the hospital that particular day & the pills didn't have a thing to do with it but the Doctor SAID it did to cover his ass? I think even Topper can attest to the fact that the first few day without her meds didn't send her over the edge? Cindy Sue
Guest guest
Please don’t start the argument then. My friend missed ONE DAY – and for you to now speculate on a man’s lifestyle whom you never met to prove a point is downright heartless. I can’t believe anyone here will make a categorical statement that it’s ok to miss a day of meds. I am truly appalled – this is not a medical advice community. sue > Lili, > > Please be careful with statements you make. > If somebody doesn’t take their blood pressure meds before a draw based on > what you just wrote, it can be VERY dangerous. > We had a friend do that last year, and he ended up hospitalized. > > Please --- speak carefully everyone. > > No doctor — and I have asked every single one of them — says to have an > empty stomach for a blood draw UNLESS specifically requested for lipids, > etc. > PLEASE remember this is a sharing board, not a medical advice board. > > Thanks, > Sue > Sue, I don't want to start a fight or anything, If your friend ended up in the hospital it was not solely based on the fact they didn't take their blood pressure meds that morning for a blood draw. Guest guest
Jackie, Sorry to hear about your mom. My mom died of a stroke 13 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. I am just really SICKENED that people would give advice to anyone about their medications and then mock a man who nearly died just because they don’t see it that way. I swear to God, nothing makes me angrier than intentional ugliness. Sue The one thing I can say is that my mom didn't take her meds one day, probably the day, not just the morning. I really don't see how you can think that anyone is "mocking" a man who died. I don't believe anyone is being "intentionally ugly". It is very important that we all read the words written & not interpret what we "think" the person saying them means. If you feel some one is making an implication or a hurtful remark ask for clairification. It is not anyone intention to be hurtfull on here. Remember we are all a little sensitive due to all our medical problems. I will say this I know beyond a doubt when it your time to go you are going one way or another. The man could have taken his meds & still died. I DIED during my heart attack & it took them 3 shocks to get me back. I SAW the people meeting me & they were all YELLING " GO BACK "!!!! At that moment I KNEW it was not my time to die. Let me tell you death is not bad, it felt like a wave coming over me & then no pain & pure joy. now that I wrote this I'll see what else everyone has to say ...lol... Guest guest
Jackie, There really isn't much more to it other then what I wrote on the last post. I remember seeing a crowd of people & I thought my grandpa was my dad (they are VERY similar in build) but I thought, what is Dad doing here I never called him? (It happened at midnight & we all said if something ever happened in the night to let the family sleep so they would be rested for traveling) Then I noticed there were alot of people & it was very bright. I don't remember a tunnel. They were all literally yelling "GO BACK !!!" So I did. When I opened my eyes the first thing I said was," I died didn't I?" The doctor looked all upset & wouldn't answer me, after the 3rd time asking he finally said, "Yes you did & your a very lucky girl, most people don't come back from that sort of rythm, it took 3 shocks to get you back ". Then I guess they told my Son & hubby what had happened & they came in the room white as sheets. Then they wisk me off to do an angiogram & placed 2 stents end to end & I died again on them. The second time I didn't see the light only listened to the doctors arguing. I asked again,"I died again right?' He said ,"yup you did, only one shock this time." Some people may not get this part ,but I wish I had got to do a life reveiw & wander around up there a little bit. I would loved to have seen the ripple effect of the things I have done in my life. Good & Bad, it would sure help to see how things work. Guest guest
the sad part is... with most of the time you're let in on 'secrets' you aren't supposed to remember them.. so when you come back and you get glimpses of the inner workings or you instinctively know what was what, that's why. does that make sense? lol Re: Re: meds to take or not, revisited THAT is amazing......~E:)--- Cindy <abigpurplediamond (AT) yahoo (DOT) com> wrote:> > Jackie,> > There really isn't much more to it other then what> I wrote on the last> post. Guest guest
Cindy Sue,Thanks so much for sharing. It reconfirms a lot of beliefs I have :)So, did you want to go back? Or was it a non choice kind of thing, like breathing is not a choice, but something that just happens. I think we all have a time we are meant to go, but then when I hear stories like yours (and I have heard and read a lot) I wonder, if you had chosen to stay (dead) would you have been able to? Or was it a choice you couldn't make because it's just not your time? How would the life review have helped you? Maybe you would make different choices now? In the huge picture, stretching myself here, maybe you weren't meant to have the review because your not supposed to change any of the choices you would make. ???I'm glad your still here to share :)Thanks again :)JackieJackie, There really isn't much more to it other then what I wrote on the last post. Guest guest
Jackie, I don't recall not wanting to go back only doing what I was told....lol...which is unusal for me. I don't think I would have been allowed to stay if I had wanted to. I never thought about the idea I shouldn't have had a life review. I am sure it would have changed at least some of my ways of handling things. There are days I wish I had been able to stay , but I know my son would have been lost without me. He always gives me cards saying how he wouldn't be where he is today if it weren't for his mommy. He's almost 26 now & he still wants me around doing things with him. I was lucky that way, my son has never gone threw the,"your embarrassing, stay away" phase. Guest guest
And scoffers would say that you were just having some sort of "chemical" experience, but I say nay. The Big Book says that "we shall be known as we were known". I really believe that people are seeing what is actually going on. Re: meds to take or not, revisited Yes it makes sense, so far nothing like that has happened. I am always aware & paying attention to the "little stuff" I have also learned to listen to "The Little Voice Inside", it is always accurate & I have been sorry when I brushed it aside. Cindy Sue >> the sad part is... with most of the time you're let in on 'secrets' you aren't supposed to remember them.. so when you come back and you get glimpses of the inner workings or you instinctively know what was what, that's why. does that make sense? lol>
