Guest guest
Local RAW honey!!! its soooooo good! I have 5 gallons of honey sitting in my kitchen =). I use honey as a sweetner to breads and even sometimes my tea. I will be making Mead with it as well. But, I just LOVE the flavor of honey, and for some reason, I can handle the raw honey, but not refined honey. I prefer the flavor in my breads, as well as a sweetner in many things I make. I would rather have a little bit of honey, than tons of artificial sweetners!!! (though I do like an occasional diet drink) I LOVE honey!!!! Guest guest
I like honey too, especially on good bread with real butter! And raw honey is the best. My sister and bil used to keep bees, then he went and built up a toxicity to them. Laurie
Guest guest
Imissed the beginning of this thread. Are you saying that you are able to eat honey and it doesn't effect you like sugar?
Guest guest
Thanks for the tip about raw honey Angelia. I tried honey the other night & my bg went up 20 points. Yikes! Currently I'm using stevia as a sweetener, but I also love the taste of honey. I have several recipes that call for it, and the consistency & volume of the honey are important to the success of the recipes. I tried substituting, but it wasn't very successful. Think I'll go get some raw honey at the farmer's market tomorrow morning and see how that goes. Kate > > Local RAW honey!!! its soooooo good! > > I have 5 gallons of honey sitting in my kitchen =). Guest guest
We used to buy our honey hits way -- we poured it up into quart jars & cap tight (don't heat seal) store excess jars in dark place (basement, root cellar, etc) eventually the honey can crystallize (my favorite) - it isn't ruined! when you want it back in liquid form, just heat in pan of water slowly, it will eventually return to its original form. beth > what to do with 48 pounds of... > > > Local RAW honey!!! its soooooo good! > > I have 5 gallons of honey sitting in my kitchen =). Guest guest
20 points isnt so bad... =) remember, I can handle lots of things that most people cant, because of my lifestyle. I went through an entire pregnancy without being put on insulin or medications. Different people react differently to different things =) Angelia in OR Re: what to do with 48 pounds of... Guest guest
Yes I am. I can eat more honey than I can sugar. As long as it is NOT refined. Only RAW honey works for me this way. If I was to eat the same ammt of white or brown sugar, My blood sugars would rise, and I would feel like poop. Angelia in OR who understands that not every person is the same Re: what to do with 48 pounds of... Imissed the beginning of this thread.
