Guest guest
I have to share a story with you... (almost 5) often only cooperates or responds to me when she is pretending to be a kitty, puppy, birdy etc... it is cute, strange, but not a problem... anyway, Friday night she was pretending to be a birdy and I said " , time to go to bed! " so she says " I'm not , I'm a birdy and I sleep in a nest! " . So I say " oh, okay birdy, lets go to sleep in your nest! " fine... she goes to bed no problem. I am lying next to her on the bed and she does this loud fart, (which we refer to as doing a poop), so I say to her " , did you just do a poop? " and she said back to me as quick as a whistle " I'm not , I'm a birdy and I didn't do a poop, I just laid an egg!) - I nearly fell off the bed laughing! I think it is clever thinking don't you? Cheers, in Australia

Guest guest
- Too funny! And way too similar to Aubrie and her pretend world. I don't know if you were on line when Aubrie was pretending to be Ross. We went to Mc's and she ordered a cheeseburger with pickles. Pickles is one food, along with olives, that she really doesn't like at all. So I reminded her that she doesn't like pickles. She said, " I am Ross and Ross likes pickles. " I said, " Ok - you're telling me that you're gonna eat the pickles? " She said she would. So I ordered it and she ate them! She's done it on other occasions since. And then last year, there was a day with pepperoni hot pockets on the school lunch menu. She doesn't care for pepperoni so we planned to pack her lunch that day but forget. I pictured the catastrophe at school when she realized we'd forgotten. But she came home and said it was fine. " I pretended I was Jody and Jody likes pepperoni. " What a nut! But was a great way to cope! And how very like - Aubrie just does people instead of animals. Your lil' is putting everything she knows into that pretending. What a window into her intellect. I think our girls must be very smart to figure out the things they do and have such a vivid imagination. Now - how to translate that smart into every day problem solving.
