Guest guest
hi every one kellie has got 4 hrs a week rest bite we just found out today. I am providing the rest bite for kellie its through the direct payment thing. dont know much about it but i packed one of my jobs in last week i am going to enjoy it to i used to child mind when my 2 kids were little and i loved it. I was saying last week if kellie had to train some one it would takelong time before kellie would trust anyone to leave caitlyn alone with them kellie is very protective of caitlyn any way some ti,es to protective but then i dont blame her. Kellie is very happy that ime doing her rest bite cos were the only ones she trusts so were both happy i work less and get to spend time with caitlyn i dont care if im a bit worse off kellie and caitlyn comes first so any help or advice about this direct payment will be good thanks to alexis and flo.I would like to thank you flow for your honesty. yes they enventually listened to us i can shout very loud when i want to ha ha .I do feal giulty that people think that im getting paid to look after my own grandaughter, but i know you all wont judge it saves social services money and kellie time and kellie is happy to know that her mum is providing the care well ive helped looking after caitlyn for 14 month now and kellie and caitlyn used to live here with us nothing much will change cos i look after caitlyn anyway as much as i can now so it gives me more time with her.thanks for all your help and support. Guest guest
Rita, that is great news - we all need a break once in a while and I'm sure Kellie will appreciate it and feel comfortable that Grandma will be providing the respite care for her. www.chargesyndrome.info > > hi every one kellie has got 4 hrs a week rest bite we just found out > today. Guest guest
That is great!! I am so happy for her and that is so sweet of you to step in. I might do some respite for anther family. The funny thing is when I tell people this they ask " wheres the respite for you? " I laugh and say I dont really need it. I am so glad Kellie can have some " me " time!! Guest guest
Great news Rita. All is well that ends well and it sounds like the perfect arrangement. Don't even give a second thought to the fact that you are getting paid. If you have had to give up your job, you need to be able to make up your income, it is the reality of life in the world of special needs. There is the clause that most Social Services use - " exceptional circumstances " . They don't normally agree to a close relative being the " employee " so to speak so if they are agreeing to you, they must recognise they would have to hunt high and low to find someone who can do the job and who Kellie will be happy with. Just enjoy your dual role and the increased time with Caitlin. Social Services hopefully have a local body they have arrangements with who they can refer Kellie to who will help with the administrative stuff such as tax, National Insurance etc. Generally, they can do all this for you if you just supply the paperwork (time sheets etc) so it is not too too stressful (unless you are me and you keep losing the completed sheets!). Hope your local one have this arrangement. I have not yet had the chance to ring Kellie but I will do so hopefully this week sometime. Am really glad you persevered. You are a great support to her while I am sure you have your own grandmotherly issues to deal with. Will e-chat another time. Very late and I need to get to my bed. Oh, is Kellie receiving DLA (the reason I am up so late! I have been filling in 's form). If not, get onto it. Very best of luck.......... Guest guest
Hi Rita, Really pleased to hear Kellie is getting some direct payments and you are going to provide the respite. In our area we aren't allowed to use family members as our carer under the Direct Payment scheme except in approved situations so did they already agree that for you? If so that is fab! There should be someone in the council who comes out and tells Kellie how to set it up, give you details of a payroll agency, they will explain what rates to pay and work out the NI and tax and tell Kellie how much net pay to give you. etc...and tell her what forms you have to do, I have to send them a monthly accounting form to show what we got invoiced by the carer and balance the books etc...it's really easy once you have done the first month. Well done on helping Kellie get this...I was behind on my emails and didn't read it sooner but I had been thinking of you all! is > > hi every one kellie has got 4 hrs a week rest bite we just found out > today.
