Guest guest
Hi Lily, Last year, my doc had me start at 30mg of Armour and increased it by 30mg every 2 weeks. I was up to 180mg at one point. I don't recall ever really feeling any better on Armour than I did without it, except at one point...last summer when I reached 120mg, after a week, I had 2 glorious days in which I had energy - I never felt so good in my life. And then after those 2 days, I crashed and have never felt that way again. At that time, my doc and I thought maybe I needed more - as such, I went up to 160mg and then 180mg. When I felt no difference, I slowly worked my way back down...all the way to 60mg, and stopped on 12/25/06. Until the past week or so, I continued to feel the same (low energy). A few people on this group had mentioned to me that my doc had me taking too much Armour too fast...that maybe I missed my " sweet spot " . I welcome any advice. I'm so miserable. Thanks so much for your response, --- liliane wise lililiz@...> wrote: > Sounds to me like you just weren't taking enough > Armour. Guest guest
Hi , Well, I'm no expert, but an increase of 30mg every two weeks does sound like a lot to me. I only increased by 15mg at a time - and not every two weeks - it depended on how I felt. But one thing is certain, without any replacement hormone at all there's no way you're going to feel better. Hashimoto's isn't just going to go away by itself. The condition is just going to get worse. You could try starting again and increasing more slowly - but you are going to need to increase because the thyroid gland is slowly being destroyed. However, one thing you should think about is your adrenals because if they aren't working correctly the body is unable to use the hormone you're giving it. I don't know how you go about testing this because I've never done it. Didn't need to. My doctor took one look at me and knew I had an adrenal problem, and started me on a low dose of hydrocortisone. My adrenals have now packed up completely and I have to take 40mg of hydrocortisone every day - and now, at last, I'm beginning to feel more like a normal humane being ! lol There has been a lot of discusion about adrenals here, so perhaps you could go back to some of the old posts and read up on it. Good luck, Lily > >Reply-To: The_Thyroid_Support_Group >To: The_Thyroid_Support_Group >Subject: RE: Hashimoto's & Fibromyalgia >connection, etc. Revisited >Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2007 17:04:16 -0800 (PST) > >Hi Lily, > >Last year, my doc had me start at 30mg of Armour and >increased it by 30mg every 2 weeks.
