Guest guest
This past week has been very rough on our family. Last Sunday night I became ill with 102 fever, chills, cough and nasal congestion. Apparently it was the some type of flu virus. Olivia became ill Tuesday with a fever of 100.4 and went to the doctor. By Tuesday, JD started going down. Tuesday afternoon JD developed fever of 101 and was not moving air very well through his lungs. His home nurses continually watched him and treated him and he apparently got better. Olivia has been sick with mild fever most of the week and nasal congestion. She was running 99 fever this morning but seems to be doing better this afternoon. Our pediatrician has increased her respiratory treatments and thinks her illness is viral. JD finished the week okay but yesterday around noon started developing symptoms again. His O2 saturations were down in to the low 90's and he developed a higher heartrate in the 170's. By five o'clock JD was worse when his night nurse came on and he developed increased work of breathing, diminished lung sounds in both lungs, congestion in the lungs, and was running fever of 101. We immediately called Dr. Gelfand and Dr. Copenhaver and suspected that we would be taking JD in to Childrens Medical Center. However, Dr. Copenhaver advised us to watch his fever and alternate motrin and tylenol every four hours. He also ordered increased respiratory treatments. JD was also placed on increased oxygen at around 30 percent. JD's fever broke around 8 pm and he hasnt had any fever spikes since. As of 2 pm today JD is down to 1/16 liter of Oxygen or about 22 percent (room air is 21 percent), his lungs sound better and he has slept most of the day. His secretions are clear. We really suspected that we would take him in last night but he kept improving. Keeping JD at home is far better than getting him to the hospital in an enviroment where disease is prevalent. We suspect JD will be on room air tomorrow hopefully. We will keep you updated. Olivia is better and JD is doing better. Please continue to keep them in your prayers. It seems the flu virus that is going around the state has hit everyone in our household except . Keep praying and Keep believing. Miracles do happen and dreams do come true. May the Peace, Grace, Glory and Mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with each of you. & , parents to twins: Olivia walking and JD(cHArgE: Choanal Atresia, Heart Repair, TE-F Repair, G-Tube, Trach, on CPap w/ O2 at Night, severe to profound hearing loss, ) 17 months , Waxahachie, Texas
