Guest guest
Margie, are you on replacement thyroid medication? Either way, do you have any lab numbers to post? It's a merciless condition to be in, we know. I am on replacement hormone, and if my numbers are great and I don't overeat, I still run about 40 pounds overweight. The only way for me to break that cycle is to do intense cardio every day. It works when I do it, but it's difficult to maintain. I wish I had an answer for you, then I would have one for myself too. What does your doctor say about it? Aside from the weight though, the hair falling out, tired etc. indicates that you're not getting enough hormone. Give us a little more information if you've got it. I didn't have my thyroid removed, but there are some here who have and can tell you a bit more... Judy had there thyroid removed?? i did in June 2006, I had Graves, and since it was removed i have gained 50 lbs, and am so hypo, tired, losing my hair and so on, i am wondering if anyone eles has these problems, if i knew this i would of left it in, Be a PS3 game guru.Get your game face on with the latest PS3 news and previews at Yahoo! Guest guest
I had mine killed off by RAI 16 years ago. When my levels are low I'm crap. .When my levels are good I'm pretty spiffy. So the first questions we'll have for you is what your labs look like... Do you have your results, with lab ranges, that you can post of us to oggle? We'll be looking to see what tests the doc is running and if he/she understands correct interpretation of the results. What meds are you on now? Name, how much, and how long have you been on your current dose? When are you do for your next round of labs? Once that's covered we'll go into good foods/bad foods and all that fun stuff..... I don't know how much research you've done yet... if you have time you might want to swing by our website and check out this page: www.thyrophoenix.com/thyroid_101.htm it runs through hormones, meds and labs and will give you a bit of a base of understanding as we start gabbing about stuff. Guest guest
Hi there, I had my thyroid removed in DEC as well, I also had Graves disease . Very similar situation! In general, I feel much better, in terms of controlled heart beat rate, less anxious ,etc. However, I don't like the idea of taking pills for the rest of my life, and be dependent on medication. This is wat I have learned so far, it might be helpful. Don't overeat, and make sure that u take ur hormone replacement pill on empty stomach. If u are taking calcium, make sure it is at least 4 hours between ur pills, and exercises... I also think u are not getting enough hormone. check ur lab result. best of luckJudy P wrote: Margie, are you on replacement thyroid medication? Either way, do you have any lab numbers to post?
