Agreed on all the above points but I think one can see that when one interjects in this case both faith and gender the point regardless of how good in the first place likely gets lost. Life's too short to hold a grudge so that's not going to happen on my part and I doubt it will on the part of any others on this list, at least not the ones commenting on this thread as most of us are of the " agree to disagree, at times vehemently " mind set! It would seem that the point of my post may have been missed. Yes it likely was for the above stated reasons but this is a part of life and as they say this too shall pass. It is in my opinion (and only mine) that we should hold ourselves and our members to a higher standard. I think many of us would agree to that in principle, in practice it becomes more muddy then the Brazos River in a thunderstorm (Did I say that?), and therein lies the rub. Your standard, my standard, Wes's, etc becomes the " issue " . Ethics and good moral character should be a necessity/requirement for all who play an active role in emergency services. That was the only point that I was trying to make. As it is a valid one but one of those " easier said than done " things that life tends to toss us on a regular basis. Anything else that was percieved negatively, is a misunderstanding. As for my post being unsigned...that was completely unintentional. No harm no foul and all is well in the Great state of Texas again (until the next set the world on it's head post of course ). Guest guest
, At least from my perspective, I'm considering the issue resolved. The discussion over pornography in the station is sure to raise some strong opinions and with those comes passion. Occasionally, passion overcomes our better judgement. (Ironically, isn't that what got the porn viewers in trouble to begin with? LOL) As such, we sometimes don't communicate as clearly as we intended to. Those things happen to us all. I believe I've had to backtrack from a few of my angry posts at times. (And you should see the ones that I never sent...) I apologize if my indignant reply was taken out of context. The biggest problem with the Internet is the virtually instantaneous communications without the ability to detect tone and/or context. Guest guest
- We all have our faith systems and yours obviously taught that you correct and apologize for any offence to others, real or perceived. I personally accept your apology. I agree, we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard; be it for personal integrity, personal excellence, faith system, or whatever reason or combination we have. We as EMS people have to see people at their worst and most vulnerable. It requires we have a reputation that is beyond reproach. Personal integrity is tested every day; only those who have high morals and ethics can rise above the basest level and excell. Each day is a new challenge; carpe diem!
