Guest guest
I have been a constant visiter to the board this week because I have been snow bound for the entire week....LOL We live in Central PA. and got hit with not just a storm but kind of a freaky storm. It started out as snow Tues. evening but turned to a heavy sleet. Kept it up all night into Wed. morning than changed back to a heavy snow. 12 inches of this stuff. Our little village is right off Interstate 80. They literally had to shut Insterstate down in area were we live. Had people stranded for up to 24 hours. They have been sending traffic onto Route 11 and town roads. Henry said traffic was creeping on 11 when he came home. Henry has requested I stay home and off the roads all week. I didn't even get to see this week. Henry is over protective of me because I'm on blood thinners. He won't even let me think of driving if there's a hint of bad weather in the air. I am going CRAZY!!!!!! mom to (31)

Guest guest
- We saw your area on the news here in IL. That traffic jam was big news. Sounds like a good plan to stay put, stay warm, and stay well-fed :-) I'm a comfort eater in this weather - lots of chocolate seems to do the trick! Your boredom is our gift. I'm enjoying the conversations! Michele W Aubrie's mom
Guest guest
, I was getting caught up on my messages when I saw yours about going crazy cuz you were snow bound. I can completely relate. In Iowa we were hit with the bad weather on Tuesday. Wednesday morning at 3am, I left for the airport to head to Boston to pick up from Perkins for their February break. I knew the weather was going to be a factor but I didn't realize it was going to take me on delay trip of hopefully a lifetime. I made it to Minneapolis no problem. Boarded the plane to Boston with no problem. We sat on the plane for over 2 hours while the flight got delayed, clearance, delayed, clearance and then canceled. Minneapolis didn't have many options left so they sent us (me and my mother) to Detroit to try to catch a flight. Once we got there, our flight to Boston had been canceled. I kept calling to get reservations on better flights but still wasn't going to get to Boston before 4:30 on Thursday. Finally a rebooking agent became my angel for the day. After 2 hours in line, I asked if I could get booked on the next flight back to Des Moines so I could start my trip over on Thursday morning. She told me that I didn't want to do that because there was a 4:56 flight to Boston. While I was in line, we heard everyone walking away saying they were put on the stand by list for this flight. One other person said that they were told there were over 100 people on that list. Then this lady tells me that I have seats on the flight. Yes, confirmed seats. The people next to us were put on the standby list. How she got me seats, I didn't care. I just wanted ont he flight. That flight was the only flight out of Detroit that left for Boston that afternoon. All of the others were cancelled. Although getting there and landing became two different things. We made it to Boston but when we got there the airport was closed. We were put in a holding pattern for an hour to hear the pilot tell us that we were being diverted back to Detroit for the night. I was starting to think that I was going to have to have sent home by UPS or DHL! But, the airline decided instead of rebooking all of us, our flight was going to get called delayed and all 180 of us would reboard in the morning to make the trip again. We stayed at the airport and left in the morning. Once getting us to Boston and on the ground, the plane broke out in applause! We were so excited to get there. But it took us another hour to get a gate, a ground crew and a jetway that would work before we could deplane. But it was all worth it. I was able to pick up Jess and start the journey home the next day. Smooth sailing, right? Not yet, as we approached our home airport...the pilot advised us that the runways were closed and we would be notified shortly if we would get to land. I about lost it! But, luckily it wasn't long and we were able to land. So, right now, I am happy to be HOMEBOUND! So, everyone think positive thoughts for Sunday, February 25th! No bad weather for the Midwest and no bad weather for the Boston area! I leave to take Jess back to school and I know that I can not do all of those delays with her. It was difficult enough with just my mother! Sorry to be so long winded. But I thought I would share my version of snow bound or was it my world travels? Hope everyone is digging out and able to get around your part of the world today! Sheryl Mom to

Guest guest
& , I think if had been with me, I would have been on my way back home via flight or rental car. I know I could not have done that with along. Now I am nervous. Our weather man is calling for a major storm somewhere in the plains for next weekend but it is too early to tell just what and where yet. I am supposed to leave Sunday morning to take back to Perkins. Keep your fingers crossed that this is the time that they are wrong! , Don't you love how they milk it? Hope he is feeling better today.
