Hey Mike, I had my cataracts, that right both eyes removed about 4 years

ago. I was in my late 40s when I had the surgery...Damn I have turned into

my parents...lol

If you have any questions give me a call.surgery is simple and quick. I had

some lens implants done so I was able to lose my glasses.

Good Luck

Bernie

So, I am at the Ophthalmologist the other day, I went in for slightly

blurred vision and walked out with the diagnosis of a 'traumatic

cataract' to the left eye.

Surgery is the 28th

That sucks

Just wanted to vent that out, I have properly induced an alcohol state

which will allow me to fend off the 'old' jokes..:)

As a friend (so I thought) said when I told him, " Holy s & #t!! It really

will make you go blind.. "

I am starting to not like him as much.:-)

I'll be thinking of you and wishing you the best. It will be fine and

you'll be able to see me MUCH better in November..<G> (which might make

you want to rethink your options)

Hey Mike, I don't know what the statistics are for Jewish men, but over 78% of

Japanese men have cataracts.

The rest of them drive either Rincolns or Rexuses. <G>

I looked at the Cataracts, but went ahead and bought an Acura. Good luck

with the surgery.

Take care, Mike. While no surgery is without risks, this one generally has

lower levels than most.

Yo Mike yea that does suck but hell my Grand Mother had hers taken out like

20 years ago and was driving better by the following week! Maybe those folks

on the sidewalks will be safer now?

In any case just be a good patient and all that stuff but get better and get

back to being the same old whatever you were before.

Thanks for the words of support encouragement and humor.

I don't think it's the surgery that bothers me nearly as much as the

fact that it makes me feel old....and I assure you that my 2 teenage

sons DO NOT miss an opportunity to gig me. So far, they have gotten me a

pirate patch, my partner is already calling me gramps, and another shift

got me a walking stick..

My hit list is getting longer each day..:-)

The only good thing is that my female friend has invited me to

Brownsville for a few days of R & R, I think I will take her up on it...

I think perhaps it might be time to look at the Rexus too..:-)

on the other hand, there are some interesting advantages...

The natural crystalline lens has a slight yellowish color (think 'Blu

Blocker' sunglasses) that increases as we age...

One of the first thing that many intra ocular lens replacement patients

report is that all shades of blue are more vivid, and they can distinguish more

shades of purple and violet. IIRC, some studies have documented vision into the

near UV range...potentially dangerous long term (damage to the retina), but

unless you do something stupid (not wearing goggles in the sun bed), probably

not a significant risk.
