post operative voice paralysis

HI, I'm a semi-professional singer. Over a year ago, Sept 2, 2005 I

had surgery for thyroid nodules, one was cancerous. Somehow a vocal

chord nerve was damaged, and the left chord has been paralyzed. since

it has been this long doctors give no hope for the return of my

singing voice. I have been offered two types of surgery to make my

voice clearer, to help me breathe and talk at the same time (great

concept). I am in turmoil, I need to make a good decision, I am trying

to get my life back on track and trying to find what that track truly

is. I don't know if this is the right group to join, but thought I'd

give it a try. Has anyone experienced this???
