Read this month's Texas EMS magazine; there's an article in it about a guy

who went to work without getting his Texas certification. The outcome was not

pleasant.

So, yes. You must have a Texas certification. A National Registry card by

itself is NOTHING. If you know any medics who are working in Texas without

a Texas certification, please advise them of the penalties for doing so and

have them contact TDSHS immediately.

Also, any licensed provider who hires uncertified personnel stands to pay a

big fine, lose it's license, or both.

Steve,

If you are referring to the current contracted EMS provider serving

Vidor, all of the paramedics working on the trucks in Vidor hold

TDSHS certifications. Even those helping from California - they are

dual state certified.

Just to clarify for you, the TDSHS website online certification

system had old data in it for a few weeks while they were converting

over to their new EMS database and therefore didn't provide all up-to-

date EMS certifications when performing an online query. In order to

prevent further confusion such as this, as of 3/7/07 TDSHS has taken

the online certification verification system off-line until the

database is completely operational.

Wonder why Vidorfire did not just call you and ask you? Your only a phone

call away.
