Per 157.33 of the EMS Rules

Reciprocity. A person currently certified by the NR or in another state may

be certified by submitting an application and a nonrefundable fee of $120.

After evaluation of the application & verification of the certification by the

department, the candidate will be certifed for one yr. Prior to the expiration

of the one yr certifcation, the certificant shall:

(A) submit a completed personnel certification application & a nonrefundable

fee as in subsection (a)(4) of this section;

(B) pass the department's written exam or NR exam within one yr after the

initial reciprocity certification has been granted.

In a nutshell, you have to have a Texas certification before you can work in

Texas on an ambulance.

You can get a copy of the application from the Texas Department of Health

web site. You just need your NR card, the application and a check. They

will issue you a Texas paramedic certificate based on that.

That is " not " correct. That is an old rule. It is true that one

must be certified with a Texas cert. to work here, however. Please

call for the correct information. Pat Elmes, DSHS,

Sorry about that, I thought that it was still the same. I'll have to go back

and print out the new 157.36 then.

Thanks,
