Guest guest
Hi all, I am really confused now! getting braver, but confused! yesterday I went to a party. I decided to be really brave and figure out there what to eat instead of bringing something with me. Well this is what I did/eat and the results. they make no sense to me at all. Maybe someone can help me make some sense of it???? a.m. BS# - 97 had breakfast around 11: 1/2c eggbeaters - 60 cal, 2g carb 2 slices Turkey Bacon, 70 cal, 0 carb 2 Wonder Lite toast, 80 cal, 18 carbs 1.5T ghee, 68? cal, 0 carbs 1teaspoon sugar free jam, 5 cal, 2.5 carbs TOTAL CAL - 283 TOTAL CARB - 22.5 1pm BS# - 113 ok, this is reasonable. now the interesting part: party dinner was from about 5-7:30 and I lounged my way through it. I got really brave! :-) : I have no idea of the calories or carbs but this is what I had: 2 large slices of rye bread with regular mayonaise 2 pieces of barbeque chicken deli turkey or chicken (don't have a clue how many ozs) deli roast beef (don't have a clue how many ozs) 10 M&Ms (real candy stuff!!!!) 1 piece regular size cut at the party chocolate mouse cake! I took my BS# 2 hrs later and it was 143! for me that is a tad high but still normal! what is going on? This is the same kind of number that I get when I am careful about carbs etc. I know I've lost about 30 lbs. I know my diabetes is most probably prednisone and overeating (got fat) induced, but it is certain that I have diabetes. Besides wanted to take off the last 20 lbs that would leave me at a more or less 'normal' weight for myself, why am I watching what I eat and my BS#s so strictly? anyone a clue? Guest guest
Because if you go back to eating the way you " used " to, your numbers will creep back up and cause issues. Your body has been getting used to the lower carbs, and therefore adjusting well. It will give you a " few " times to " splurge " but dont do it on a daily basis. Your lost weight is also a factor. Your pancreas has been getting a mild " vacation " and it was ready to do a little overtime for a bit. But dont overdo it! It would be like if you had the best night's sleep in the world, then you stayed up for three days. You wouldnt feel great anymore =) Angelia in OR what's going on here?????
