Ultrasound on thyroid today....

Hi everyone,

I go for a follow up ultrasound on my thyroid today for a goiter on my right side. It's been 6 months since my last ultrasound, and I have been on levothyroxine every day since then. I am really nervous that the results won't be what I'm hoping for, and of course my neck feels "full" today, ugh. Some days I don't even feel a thing, and others it feels so swollen and full; hard to explain, but I know you know what I mean!

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good results; I am terrified of having to have surgery, if that is what will be. Thanks for letting me vent....

I think it is interesting that you mentioned your neck feeling fuller

today.

I have a multi-nodular thyroid gland and sometimes my neck does seem

fuller.

I also notice that some days I have this gagging sensation in my

throat, like something is pressing on it from the outside...not like

something is stuck on the inside.

I asked my endo and he said that the nodules do not swell and shrink

like that 'suddenly'. That makes me curious since my nodules have grown

minutely in size and he increased my thyroid meds to suppress my TSH

even more in hopes of slowing down the growths or 'shrinking'(?) them.

I don't have any nodules that I know of and I can't imagine them changing in size that readily, but I do have days when my neck is fuller and days when it's slimmer. It could be water retention, I guess, but there is definitely a difference. My endo didn't believe me either... Judy

For me this is a sign that I have had too much iodine...or when my

thyroid is off a little..although that is usually caused by too much

iodine.
