Guest guest
Wanda: It is difficult to be up this time of year when we are healing. There are a lot of challenges to have breast cancer any time. However, regardless of religious or cultural beliefs, it is especially difficult this time of year. Let me help maybe with a sense of humor type story. My great nieces, ages 7 and 9, were at my house yesterday with my niece (their mom). I was trying to get last minute presents wrapped with the " extra " help. I have always been especially close to this niece and her daughters. I asked my niece if she had told the girls about my surgery. She said that she had. I asked her if she told them why I had the surgery. She said no. I aksed her if she cared if I told them. She agreed I could. So I asked them if they knew what kind of surgery I had. They shook their heads no. I told them the doctor had removed my left breast because I had breast cancer and wanted to make sure that all of the cancer was gone. Amy, the 9 year old, looked at me and these words came out of her mouth, " That sucks! " I was taken by surprise and could not help but laugh. I told her that she was exactly right - it does suck! Kind of sums up my feelings about breast cancer at this time of the year or as far as that goes, any time of the year or life. Hope that in your healing the blues are temporary.
