I am solo and have 2 subcontractors, but it is a family situation.

I solo except when I am going on vacation. The president of our local

chapter lives in my town and we have become good friends. When I go on

vacation, (NEXT WEEK HURRAY) my client calls her if she sends over

dictation via my call in and she will stop by and pick up the tape. It

worked fine last year but this year my friend is working Perdiem at a

hospital 3 days a week so she won't have the time. She does not give the

client all she wants but the client is just happy to know someone is available.

Take care.

Nothing official - the US Foundation has a royal blue colour but the

Cdn group has different ones (red & black), the Aussie group may have

something different and as well the UK group. I'd just do it up however you

like!

You can do a search for ribbons and awareness to find out which colors mean

what. I did some research about this about 6 months ago, because I wanted to

design a ribbon for CHARGE Syndrome. I ended up using purple and silver (for

children with disabilities), but I don't remember which color means what.

Pretty much every color has been " taken " and has several different meanings now.

It was interesting reading though, and has come in handy. I have a friend who

is battling uterine cancer, and so I made her some teal ribbon cupcakes (not

everyone knows that a teal ribbon is for reproductive organ cancers...). I also

found out ALS (which my grandmother passed away from 4 years ago) is blue with

white pinstripes.

That depends...

I designed a ribbon for CHARGE awareness, and have posted it on Evan's web

page.

I thought designing a unique ribbon (something eye catching like the puzzle

piece ribbon autism has) and getting pins made would be a great fundraiser for

the foundation. But it seemed to me that the consensus was to wait for the

foundation to do this (I guess so there is one design that everyone who wants to

give input on, can), instead of doing it on my own.

So I'm waiting. But I do use my ribbon. I post it on Evan's site when I

don't have a picture that is appropriate for a post, and it's on our WalkAmerica

shirts.

Maybe we'll hear an update on this at the conference - it'd be great if they

had them there for sale at the conference, they'd probably sell a TON...

Have you made a formal proposal to the Board with your idea? Could be that

no one is working on it. With a formal proposal, the Board could consider

it, make a decision, and assign a committee to handle it. Perhaps you could

be in charge of that committee.

I've thought about it...but that would involve work! It's easier to complain

about it and hope someone else will run with the idea.

I'm being sarcastic because I really would like to pursue a project related to

increasing CHARGE Syndrome awareness, but I'm being pulled in many different

directions at the moment (trying to buy the optometry practice I'm working at

and lobbying to change some laws governing medicaid in our state are the two

biggies)...I know, I know--time is a commodity we could ALL use more of, but I

seriously do not have enough time to devote to it right now.

But, it is a good idea, and I think you are right that a formal presentation

to the board might be just what is needed to give it a start.

(mom to Evan)

PS I love the pictures you took of Aubrie at the state capitol--she looked so

grown-up, and did a great job presenting her cause. I saw them just a few days

after my trip to our state capitol too.

I get it. So if you can't take on the project, consider making the proposal

to the board with the ideas you've already conjured so that it's at least

available for someone else to run with.

And thanks for the compliments on my princess. I'm still quite proud of

her. I hope you are successful in your lobbying efforts as well.
