Guest guest
I searched the site and found bits and pieces of adding T4 to Armour but not enough. Perhaps there is more on the site in another location? I'm on 105 mg (3.5 of the 30 mg pills) of Armour. I've been reading about adding t4 and have an appointment scheduled with my endo soon. I'd like more information on how others felt when they substituted some of the Armour for the t4. I figure 100 mcg of throxine with 1.5 pills of the Armour should raise my t4 levels and still give me the t3 that I need. Perhaps 50 mcg of the thyroxine and 2.5 pills would be okay too. I feel fine as it is but the doctor would like me to switch over to levo and add Cytomel as well. I would prefer to the Armour instead of the Cytomel. I've always felt there was more to it than the t4/t3. Has this type of change had good results for others? Karin
Guest guest
I don't think you'll find too much written about it and it's not as common as it should be. I'm taking 50mcg Levo and 1.5 grains Armour. I actually did this myself with leftovers because the straight Armour was too much for me. The combination is working well. I get the benefits of the Armour without the other side effects that I personally was having. Once I had done it for a bit, I told my new doctor and she agreed to leave me on the combination until my next labs in the new year and then we'll go from there. You are now taking 1.75 grains of Armour which is approximately 129.5 Levo. If you take 100mcg thyroxine with 1.5 pills (45mg) Armour you will be 155.5 approximate Levo equivalent, so that may be too much. 50 and 2.5 pills would be 142.5 mcg approx Levo equivalent. If you take 50mcg Levothyroxine and 1 grain Armour (60mg or 2 30mg pills) it would be 124 which is closer to what you're taking now. Of course I don't know what dose would be good for you, but those are all approximate equivalents... JudyP I'm on 105 mg (3.5 of the 30 mg pills) of Armour. Guest guest
Karin, I was on 100 levo and 20 cyto and switched to 150 armour but found I need more t4 as well. I am on .56 mcg levo and 90 mg of armour and feel better after a week. I don’t get bloodwork til march but doing the math this should raise my t4F levels which have been just inside of “low normal.” sue I searched the site and found bits and pieces of adding T4 to Armour but not enough. Glad to hear you are reporting good effects from you t4.. I do believe you will be happy with the bloods in the end. If you are still experiencing migraines/vertigoishness...then you know to tweak it...round a bit more. Little less Armour...little more t4... YES? I'm shooting to get my bloods done again in about four weeks. Karin: One doc called by Dr. Blanchard...has a book out on a combo of this sort. Its packed with great info...and understand that you have to find your own personal combo in the end. Good luck! ~E:) . Guest guest
Hi EEEEEEEEE I think the headaches are backing down – I feel pretty good — may go back to Cyto/Levo----but the price is just like TRIPLE so maybe not... Not sure the Armour has done anything positive, but the bloodwork in March as well as the hair analysis in late Feb will give a better pic at the cellular level......
