Guest guest
My son was just diagnosed this Monday with Type1; He's on a carb counting, with insulin shots and I'm having problems thinking of good snacks for him, what would be a good idea for a snack? Any suggestions? Mader

Guest guest
Barbie, this was a very interesting list. I've just been dxed with diabetes in Feb and my search for foods I can manage my diabetes without meds has been quite the adventure. Your food/snack list is very interesting and I will most definitely follow it up myself! BUT, there are carb counts on it for foods that are very different from what my endo team nutritionist has told me and/or has been written on the Ingredients lists of packages which she told me to use over what she told me or the various booklets with carb/cal/fiber/etc facts say. Thanks for taking the time to send this whole list! JUDITH == > Carb Snacks > > > > Food # carb servings -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
Well, the list came thru different than it was sent....it had originally been two columns with a list of proteins for my son to add to his carbs. This way it came out with the proteins listed intermixed with the carbs. And the carb counts are estimates....but fairly accurate b/c we did check packages....with one carb serving equaling 15 gms of carbs. And of course, this would only be accurate for the specific brands of crackers, etc that we are buying. My son is on insulin and is definitely growing. So he was told to eat 6 carb servings (90g) for each of bkfst, lunch, and dinner and then 2 snacks of 2 servings each and one snack of 3 servings. We have since cut that back some.
