Your ranges really 'don't' matter... well they do, but how you feel matters more, so tell me... how do you feel on this dosage??

Could Someone Please Explain Test Results???

Just got a copy of my lab work for hypo. and don't understand the results. They read T4 and TSHTSH 0.567 uIU/mL ).350-5.500 PDThyroxine(T4) 4.0 Low ug/dL 4.5-12.0 PDT3 Uptake 28 % 24-39 PDWould like to understand this before Dr.'s appt. It's all so confusing to me. I'm on Levoxyl 25mcg Cytomel 25mcg. I don't know if I'm too high/low or normal? Don't know that I've ever been normal.(ha)Would appreciate some clarification....Thanks!

I would say that your T4 is way too low and should be more toward the top of the range. The TSH is being pushed down by the cytomel, so that dosage may be good for you, but he/she may want to increase the Levoxyl to the next dosage. This is a great example why TSH alone is not enough. Most would say that you're fine based on that TSH, but we can see from the T4 that you don't have enough reserve. Adding more Levoxyl could boost your T4 without futher affecting the TSH. More Cytomel would probably push your TSH into the hyper zone because you're so close now. The reason that I say this is that the T3 in Armour, brought my TSH way down actually into the hyper zone without chaning my Ts much at all. In fact, my T4 was a tad lower at 10.5. Are you still having hypot symptoms? Just my take on what I see. Let us know what happens after the appointment... Judy

Thanks to all who have been kind enough to respond. Your info. is

invaluable.

My Hypo. symptoms are starting to kick in again. Fatigue, hair loss,

tremors, insomnia, hoarsness w/voice, mood swings, hard time

breathing. I can feel the heart doing a pitter/patter/rapid sensation.

So, maybe the Levoxyl is too low and the Cytomel should at least stay

where it is and not be increased???

My Dr. said at last appt. if any of the symptoms returned she'd kick-

up the dosage on both Levoxy/Cytomel to 50mcg on both. Your

thoughts??

Again, thank-you!

Have you told your Doc about the new symptoms?? Sometimes nurses (NOT the good ones) can be a pain in the well.. you know. Is there any way you can speak to your doctor directly before your next appointment? Sometimes that can help illustrate that there is a problem. Where as a note that just says... 'patient (blank) wants more pills' LOL.

Good luck,
