Guest guest
Hi , I asked the women at radiation today how much I was getting each time and they said 180. My cancer was invasive ductal stage 1, and my breasts aren't very big so that's probably why mine's at the lower end. I also asked them how often the machine was checked to be sure it's putting out the right amount and working properly and they said everyday. And I found out the booster treatments are aimed directly at where the tumor was instead of spread out like the first 25 or so are. Here's where I found the info on breastcancer.org ...go to home, go to treatment, go to radiation therapy, go to what to expect, then how much radiation. The site seems to go on forever, which is really great to find for a change! Hope it went well for you today. The total amt. depends on the size of the breast, size of tumor and if you had chemo or not. " Thanks! I have been to breastcancer.org but hadn't seen that info yet. " I don't know what happened to me, when I first found out I had cancer I started researching like a madwoman wanting to know everything, and be informed to make the proper decisions, and was always a step ahead and asking lots of questions. When I got to the radiation part of it all I just seemed to hand it over and went into " hope they know what they're doing " mode. " This is exactly what I did too - I think that I felt that I needed to be nuclear physicist or something to understand it. Now I am wishing that I had researched more when my mind was less exhausted. Thanks!
