Guest guest
Adrenal problems (fatigue), allergies, excessive water weight can all cause facial swelling. . If your magnesium helps but seems to cause diarrhea, try cutting the dosage in half or in quarters with a razor blade or a pill splitter to 'lessen' the effects. It may be possible that you are overloading your body with too much magnesium and it is trying to detox it. That is a very normal problem when supplements are taken in to large of a dosage for the individual person's needs. Iron for instance will cause the opposite effect and it's common to get 'rabbit balls' with it. Do you have any shortness of breath, hives, itchy rashes, etc. between 15 min - 6 hours after taking the magnesium? Sometimes people can have delayed reactions to things, even 'vital' minerals, nutrients, vitamins, etc. Good luck figuring it out. Do you chew 'sugarless' gum?? There's an ingredient in the gum that when consumed in large enough amounts, it can cause diarrhea. I gotta love that 'Medical Mysteries' book I have for that one... I also read about a woman who swallowed a toothbrush... way too much entertainment for me . That's me.. the medical oddball. Oh wait, I'm not alone... quick everyone!! Raise your hands if you're an oddball to! Hey! We gotta stick together. ****wink**** has any one tried magnesium it seems to help but..... magnesium seems to help but causes terible diareah, has any one tried itcant get up in mornings if i dont take it,and is it a salt that will cause facial swelling??? i cant stand the facial swelling. Guest guest
Working in the medical profession, you've GOT to keep this odd sense of humor. I sometimes think that it's to keep from crying. I'm still trying to figure out HOW anyone can get a toothbrush accidentally down their throat. Guest guest
I take Tri-Salts at bedtime. It contains Magnesium, Calcium and Potassium. Calcium can be constipating, so I guess it takes care of the magnesium and I don't get diarrhea at all. It helps me sleep better and actually keeps me regular, but in a nice way LOL. I do not get swelling from it at all. I can get swelling by drinking too much water, which I guess depletes them all too much... Guest guest
To much magnesium will cause diarhea. I take enough to where I have loose stools then cut back on the amount of magnesium to keep me regular. Also too much magnesium will cause you to be tired. Magnesium is what they use in MOM and other medicines to help you go. > --------------------------------- > > magnesium seems to help but causes terible diareah, has any one tried it > cant get up in mornings if i dont take it,and is it a salt that will > cause facial swelling??? i cant stand the facial swelling. > > > > --------------------------------- > Want to start your own business? Guest guest
I have been told many times that my sense of humor was odd, but I agree with you.. odd sense of humor goes with the territory. I absolutely love watching ER and every time an 'odd' patient comes in they take a picture of it for a 'case study' but I think it really just goes under the nurse's desk for people to look at when they're bored... or you know, when docs go away and come back to see what they've missed LOL. Here's the story... A lady who was anorexic I think had been anorexic for so long that she had trained herself to not gag by trying to gag repeatedly. So when she'd need to throw up, she would have to use her finger father and farther back to 'trigger' the response. Well... one day she just couldn't do it and reached for the toothbrush. Well, she had such a gag reflex that it got stuck and she had to go to the emergency room. When she was there, they did x-rays on her and her x-ray is what is on the front of the book. Incidentally, because I'm a fan of 'strange' medical things like that, I can't wait to go to the Mutter Museum in PA as they have a collection of the wierd & odd... it's open to the public and a lot of medical students go there. http://www.collphyphil.org/mutter.asp The book is called 'The Woman Who Swallowed A Toothbrush: and Other Weird Medical Case Studies' by Rob Myers, M.D. You can see info (and a picture) here.. http://www.amazon.com/Woman-Who-Swallowed-Toothbrush-Histories/dp/1550225693/sr=1-3/qid=1165853427/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/002-4827445-1599213?ie=UTF8 & s=books As far as strange mysteries... I once put tampons up my nose to make a patient laugh. I also dressed up as the hospital mascot Kippy the Kangaroo for a while... man that was fun!! Guest guest
I take magnesium/zinc combination (or did before we moved, now I can't buy that here so I buy them separately and have to cut the zinc in half to make it the right dose). It really seems to help me. I take calcium during the day with the regular vitamin at lunchtime (take my synthroid in the morning). The magnesium helps definitely, but if I'm hypo, I still get constipated even with it, so that's how I know when it's hypo vs magnesium. My doc also told me that too much can make you tired and I take it at bedtime to help me sleep, definitely works! She also had me taking extra B-complex vitamins for a while but I stopped taking those, just didn't see a difference. www.Lane.com www.IwakuniMCAS.com http://stewartlane.com/gallery/ Be sure to check at the bottom of every set of pictures for more pages in the set.
