Tim & Raeann are new to this site. Christian our son is 6 months old

and is a classic Charge child. He has Tetrology of Follet and he is

having his heart surgery Feb 22, 2007 at Advocate Christ Childrens

Hospital. We live in Bartlett, IL.

He is our first born so mom and dad are making alot of mistakes, but

doing our best. We appreciate any and all prayers and while we don't

post alot we do read alot. We have alot to learn but appreciate

everyone in this group.

Once Christian has his heart fixed we tackel the cleft lip and palette

and work on hearing and vision. We know for sure our son will be

legally blind do to his extenisive coloboma's but we are hopefull for

some vision and hearing.

Here is his webpage. Love all of you. Tim

Welcome to the list! My family will put you in our prayers. Your son is

beautiful! Our son Cameron (dob 3/4/02) was also born with cleft

lip/palate (bilateral). Seeing your son's unrepaired cleft brings back

so many memories. Please use this list - I've found many wise and

compassionate people here.

Take care,

Dear Tim amd Raeann,

My son has colobomas of both eyes. At the time of birth they

felt he had no vision. Fortunatly for us he has vision in one eye.

Even as an adult our optmolagist (who worked extensively with

CHARGERs) was suprised at his use of what vision he had. She said the

coloboma involvment was extensive even in his good eye. It's not

perfect by any means and he acually has holes in the vision of that

eye. But, he has glasses and adaptive equipment with which he can

read, play video games, get about during the day with no problems.

At night or on uneven ground is the only time you can tell he has a

vision problem. also went through heart surgery at around six

months of age to repair a double aortic arch of the heart. The

doctors told 's biological parents that he probably would not

survive and if he did he would be unteacably retarded. (Go and check

out his pictures) He proved them all wrong. These kids are fighters.

That is something that isn't classified in the CHARGE diagnosis.

Never stop hoping and believing in Christain's will.

I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Hi and Welcome,

Our prayers are with you..my son went through the Tetrology of Fallot

surgery. We were fortunate to have a very skilled surgeon...not much on

personality but very skilled with the surgery. has also been through

several cleft surgeries...Our plastic surgeon is also very skilled with a little

more personality ...I asked about how many revisions to the lip would he need to

do...he told me when he was satisfied he would let me know...

is 9 going to be 10...he will need more revisions on his lip and

braces...His heart repair is good...there too he may need a revision...he is a

very happy active child...

If you have any questions please contact me...you can email off list if you

want

Praying for you

Ellen mom to 9...

Hello McCants, I got an email yesterday from yall about Christian's upcoming

surgery and I prayed for all of you. I am gonna pray for yall again tonight,

ok? You say your first timers so you're making mistakes, but let me tell you

something I've learned and I've got 3 kids... all they really want is yall's

love. And I've talked with yall several times and I know yall have plenty of

love in your family for that baby. I love looking through yall's pictures.

They are so sweet... I'd love to reach through and give Christian a big ole

hug. Well, Chrystine and Arleigh want me to come play. 0thinking of 0yall
