Guest guest
Does anyone out there have this issue with their CHARGERS? My is 10 years old and is still not potty trained! When I ask her if she needs to go potty, she always says NO. When I tell her to go potty, and she needs to go, either #1 or #2, she will go with no problem. But, she is still in pull-ups (thank God she is small) and I have tried everything. At night, if she has to go #2, she will go and sleep in her dirty pants all night. It's almost as if she does not get the sensation, or her brain is not telling her body that she needs to go. I just don't know what else to try. So, if anyone out there has any " CHARGE " related suggestions, PLEASE e-mail me. Thank you... Signed, Desperate Mom.....
Guest guest
My 8 yr old daughter is day-trained (but needs reminder to have a BM or she'll put it off forever) but still needs a pull-up at night. She is really well-trained in the day since the age of 5, so I don't know why the difference at night, it's like she just can't regulate at night. I wish I could be of more help... Guest guest
We just got my 10yr old Charger trained durring the day. We use a stricked schedual with time that he has to go ( about every hour) He is able to be dry most days. He still uses good nights for night time. He is trained for BM's but, voiding was much harder to train. His Twin was trained by 6yrs but only for daytime. He also uses good nights for sleeping. Good luck!!!! potty training............ Guest guest
- Same with Aubrie - perfect by day, full pull-up at night. When we have this sleep study or if anything else comes up as a possible answer, I'll let you know. You do the same. Aubrie'd really like to be dry at night like her friends but we just can't figure it out. Guest guest
is the same: Fine during the day, Pull-ups at night. She's been fine during the day since about age 9, when she no longer was getting any tube feedings. But that night time - WOW! - she will have a soaked Pull-up nearly every morning. Doesn't matter what time the cut-off for any evening liquids is, either. Friends in CHARGE, Marilyn Ogan Mom of (14 yrs, CHARGE+ JRA) Mom of Ken (17 yrs, Asperger's) Wife of Rick oganm@... Guest guest
Oh does your sound like my with the exception of bms during the day. She will take herself to the bathroom for a bm in the daytime. will be 9 years old in October. We have seen 4 Urologists, one being a Urological psyciatrist. She was put on a strict schedule..every hour. She had to wear a watch to school to signal when to go. She STILL had accidents. She will tel me she's not wet only to find she's soaked. I will had reminded her to use the bathroom before leaving for church and she will. Then she'll have a wet pullup after the 20 min drive! I really don't get it and drive myself crazy over it. The other day she actually stood in my kitchen and peed on the floor...through the pullup! UGH!! I know this is NOT helpful. But here's the latest regarding 's last Urologist. The last Urologist we saw told us that although her right kidny is in the wrong place, there is nothing wrong that would affect her ability to train. He told me that it has more to due with her emotional and social developement. At this age, there are still a number of kids who need work with training(I don't remember the numbers but I was surprised!) The kids with hearing and/or vision impairments have a tendency to mature a little slower so it takes longer for them to train. There has to be a motivation. does eat much orally so food is not a motivator (althought they would not go that route right away). She is more interested in reading and telling stories so not a motivator there. And she does not like stickers and is not overly interested in toys. OK where to motivate? Her doctor said kids. They can be mena and not wanting to be different may be the motivator....he doesn't know Miss E yet....she doesn't really care about that either!! She just adjusts!! SO we were told to wait it out and look for signs of being motivated. When we see she is taking more of an interest and is having more successes, we are to contact him again. There is a clinic and program through Children's Hospital of Phila. and they can work with a child on the function of toileting. Showing what their baldder looks like ful and then empty(real time through ultrasound) And various techniques to make sure they empty comletely. Not sure this helps you. Having the doctor reaffrim that it is going to require more time but it seems the skills are there helped. Its not for lack of trying and it is not because she is being obstinant...her body just wants to act like a 2 year old in this area. Its tough and I have to remind myself of this often. Guest guest
Debbie, It's hit or miss with Kennedy; she can go four or five nights in a row completely dry with the pull-up and then it's a river on the sixth night. Here's the other thing; I'm NOT willing to wake her to pee late at night. She takes at least 1-2 hours minimum to fall asleep and she would be up for the night if I woke her. Not worth it...I need sleep. Mom to Kennedy 8 (CHARGE), 17, 15, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada http://www.chargesyndrome.info > > Interesting, same with .
