Guest guest
I went from 100 synth to 115 as my TSH was at 4.2, but now its .177 and Im a bit hyper. My T3 is 5.1 and my T4 is 1.5, they said this was normal. I still feel like crap, low energy, - only about 20% better. Im looking for a doctor that can prescribe both Cytomel and Synthroid. Im thinking go to 50 synthroid, and 5 (lowest dosage) cytomel to start. Just need to find a Doctor that does this. I just saw a report from the Endorcinolgy association that stated T3 (Cytomel) meds have no significant impact on treatment.

Why have you chosen to drop to 50 mcgs after being at 115 mcgs? It looks to me like this will be a huge drop.... I should think that it would be more helpful if you posted the ranges and let us know if these are Frees or totals. The Endo Associations and there studies are not always helpful. The thyroid treatment is all highly individual and their "studies" rarely account for this. Thanks, ~E:) TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op. Check out the all-new Yahoo! Guest guest
Have you ever considered trying a different brand? If I had such a drastic change in labs from such a small increase, I might worry about the potency of each batch of levot. I personally had similar problems with Synthroid brand many years back. They were known for batch inconsistency at one point, but I'm not sure where they stand today. Either way, I had great improvement once I switched from that brand and won't ever take it again. I'm currently taking a combination of Armour and Levoxyl and I'm not doing too badly. I haven't had new labs done since the switch. I think when they say that T3 has no impact, they're not taking into consideration the folks that don't convert well. If your thyroid is still producing something, and your body is converting properly from T4 to T3, then you might not notice much difference (in my humble opinion), but if you're not in those catagories, I would think it could make a huge difference. Please post a link or a source of information for this statement, I would very much like to read it. Was that with a particular case or cases or just a general statement by a bunch of bafoons that blow a lot of hot air but get no results with their patients. " Well your #s look fine now, so scrape yourself off the floor now and go home and be happy " , lol. Yes, I'm with YOU, I would try the combo too, as I'm thinking that if they said it, it must have been a lie, huh?
Guest guest
I cant find the link. I googled Cytomel synthroid its in the top few links, but I bet you could try to find the Assosiasions assesment on thier web page. Apparently, the " American Medical Endocrinological association " does not think T3 has significant effects.
Guest guest
JASon: Thanks for finding that. If you research all this stuff long enough, you'll find that conventional medicine is almost hostile to the idea. One doc...who is the Head of Mass General in Boston who trains young docs at Harvard...told me flat out...."thyroid levels don't matter and patients are just chaing a pipe dream if they think they are gonna get better just because their levels are different" He told me...that since that is true...t3 can not be helpful. He agree that the New Englang Journal of Medicine seemed to have some persuasive proof...but int he end...IT had not be backed up by other studies.... ~E:) jasonmountainview wrote: I cant find the link. Guest guest
What a child. I can't believe that any doc said that thyroid levels don't matter. Holy cow, astounding.
