Guest guest
Judy I am in almost the same boat as you exactly. How do you get your Rx for the ability to switch and mix and match? I have been lucky that my doc has let me “play” with my meds till I feel better. I just posted my labs as well and want to go to an armour levo combo. In all reality the ONLY benefit of the armour has been the cost, which does count...a lot But I also am finding it harder to lose weight. sue Thanks E. Here are my last labs taken while on the 100mcg Levothyroxine. TSH, 1.185 , (.350-5.50) T4, 11.5 , (4.5-12) T4 Free (Direct) , 1.50 , (0.61-1.76) T3, 102 , (85-205) Free Thyroxine Index , 3.8 , (1.2-4.9) T3 Uptake , 33% , (24-39) RT3 , 143 , (90-350) TPO , <10 , (0-34) Antithyroglobulin Ab , <20 , (0-40) Here are my labs taken about 6 weeks after starting the Armour. I think I was at 2 grains when these labs were taken, but reduced shortly afterward and then went to the combination. My TSH went way down, but so did my Total T4 and my T3 went up just a smidge. For me, hardly worth the effort. It does make me a bit warmer, which most of the time is good, but it also makes it harder to lose weight for some reason. I think I'll stay on it over the holidays anyway, cause I'm going to Canada and I could use the warmth LOL! TSH, .118 (.350-5.50) T4, 10.1 , (4.5-12) T3, 107 , (85-205) Cortisol 4PM , 7.4, (3.1-22.4) DHEA Sulfate , 114 , (26-200) Hemoglobin Alc 5.0 (4.5-5.7) Iodine 80 (40-92) Glucose 86 (65-99) I'll post my new labs when I get them in a couple of weeks and we can compare. Now I'm taking 50mcg Levo and 1 grain Armour. This morning I just took the Levo to see if I can stop this eye twitching... JudyP \
Guest guest
Judy: I'm glad you were able to follow some of what I wrote there! I do think you will be totally fine taking it all at once in the morning.... Yup...yup...that will be great. Maybe you were thinking of the hypoglycemia connection? ITS true that many hypos are hypoglycemic...and we crave and crash on sugar all day....so what you are doing is stellar. Sugar can rev up the adrenals and when they get burnt out..there is not enough cortisol to push the thyroid hormone into the cells. STRESS does the same thing. THAT is why high stress jobs kill thyroids. ITS not really direct...it kill the adrenals first...then the thyroid has no frontline protection. ~E:)Judy P wrote: That's great E. I think I have the info to go on now. I wasn't sure if the Levo increases were as volatile and the Armour ones can be, but I hear you and that's exactly what I'll do. I'll run out if I do much more anyway, but I want to find a place before I go back to the doc and 'fess up about everything. If I'm still flailing, it would be hard to convince her of what I want to do. So that's set for now. I am taking Maca, but I've been taking that for about 4 years now and it's consistent, so I'll make sure I keep it that way so that my labs will be consistent with that additive. I put it in my morning shake about 4 hours after my meds. Ya, I don't know what my body does with that direct T3, but it seems to say "ok, let's shut everything else down". I'm not going to play with it any more and I'll see what my labs come up with on the straight Levo. I've got 2 months to go before I see her, so I'll decide one month from now whether to increase it or not, so that I have at least 6 weeks on that dose before the labs. My TX doc was going to raise me to 150mcg just before the Armour trials and so I only took that dose for a few days. So I'm going to go to 1.25 tomorrow, all in one dose in the morning, and see how that goes. I've been doing the 100mcg for about a month now, and the lower heart rate and temps tell me that it's not quite enough. I've cut out all sugars and simple starches in the past 3 months too and that may be having an effect. I know there is a sugar/thyroid connection, but I don't remember exactly what it is. I remember reading that sugar/chocolate/caffeine stimulate the thyroid and give it a false sense that it's working or something bizarre like that. I'll see what I can dig up on that too.
