Guest guest
hey tina--yes it was that much--they test for everything--they put a butterfly IV in the vein and draw the blood--I had a really good nurse and she did a great job. The worst test was the GI--drinking that barium--OMG--after not eating or drinking since midnight --at 2 pm today--it about made me loose my cookies--wasnt painful--the stuff is just so gross. Everthing else was fine--just worn out from all the tests they did. Its better they know everything and therefore are no suprises--good luck--close your eyes and look the other way--lol--think that its going to be worth it:) Jayne
Guest guest
Deb--they honestly did--they even used both arms--the first test for oxygen in the blood---maybe they arent called vials--but they are the tubes of glass with the yellow wax at the bottom and rubber tops?? It was definetly that many--I didnt imagine it--lol--Jayne
Guest guest
Hello everyone--today was my final testing--5 hours of tests--as I am sure you all did--ekg--blood--chest xray--swallowing--GI tract-- breathing--oxygen in blood--urine--and about 12-15 viles of blood. I am really anxious and nervous--and glad to know this was the final step before my final new " birthday " --any suggestions how to handle the few days before surgery without losing your mind--lol. I feel so positive yet so scared but know I have made the correct decision. I am having the RNY--open-weighed in at 281--goal is 150--I need to learn more about the shakes and protien levels etc and the supplements I need to take though--I have been doing extensive research on the surgery and am kind of confused as to what I need as far as the protein shakes etc. Thanks for everyones support--I really appreciate it--Jayne
Guest guest
Hi Jayne, just wondering if you mean they drew this much blood from you. It took forever for my local clinic to get 2 viles of blood from me ......please tell me I won't have to go through 12-15. Post-ops, is this much routine for post-op check ups? I am a big baby when it comes to needles although i am sure a few needles are better than being as bis a 2 people...............Tina Jayne....about 12-15 viles of blood. Guest guest
Jayne - I had a horrible time with the barium stuff, too. and they made me drink a TON of it because they had to see it reach my colon. But because I hadn't eaten anything since midnight, the stuff wasn't moving. So, I had to walk the halls and keep drinking, and then they had me drink a glass of water, and more stuff, and another glass of water. Then they finally told me to go eat some lunch to push the stuff along. And of course I had an accident and wet my pants when I sat down for lunch! I had been telling myself to keep my eye on the prize through this whole ordeal, but at that point, I was ready to throw in the towel! LOL! Now I can laugh about it. Just wanted to say I knew how you felt. Jeanne in WI Age 39 - Dr. T. Chua Open RNY - 5/21/02 5'7 " - 314/215/150-175 djgraves@...
