Guest guest
I have noticed Afib being called an epidemic more and more lately. Some are blaming the environment. Some blame an aging baby boom. others blame America's obsession with weekend warrior exercise routines, or even the trend of high endurance athletic challenges [Triathilon, marathon, etc] others say a new " nano virus " is to blame; then again, it could be the prevalence of EKG machines and regular diagnostics tests for a growing age group that requires life insurance policies, etc. Afib could be the problem or the symptom (I guess); the exact cause, genetic, or otherwise, may never be fully understood with today's science. Regardless, it would be " nice " if a federal or even global records department kept tabs on Afib incidences reported by age, sex and geographic origin. This would be a start to unraveling the mystery of AF; and could be used for " other " debilitating conditions as well. Would it be the CDC? They keep tabs on STDs -not sure that does much good... I guess we would need to establish AF is " communicable first :-) How do you do that without data to back it up? Just a thought.
