Guest guest
Hello everyone. My story....Found the lump myself not long after Halloween. Its been a whirlwind since then. I have had two lumpectomy's and a sentinal node biopsy. I am 39 years, the mother of 4 and working full time. Next week I have my first appointments with the radiologists and oncologists...sounds like I will have chemo and radiation. I have some questions...but right now I just wanted to say HI and tell you all that I enjoy reading your stories. Its nice to know that I have some " girlfriends " out there to talk to about all of this junk! God Bless. Penny
Guest guest
Welcome Penny. Glad you are enjoying the group, We try to be supportive and answer any questions you may have or point you in the right direction if we don't have an answer. Things will calm down once you know what your treatment/treatments are. I had chemo 16 1/2 yrs ago and didn't have any trouble what so ever. I did not have radiation but a lot of the ladies say its not bad at all. I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
Hi everyone This is Mansure, I was Dx two months ago. I had lumpectomy first and then bilateral mastectomy. tumors were 2.5 and 3.5 cm with (2 out of 28) lymph nodes involved from the right breast and (0 out of 23) lymph nodes removed from the left side. ER,PR-, her2+, p53 strong. so I guess it looks like heriditary cancer. as my aunt died of ovarian cancer in age 63, my mom is under treatment for ovarian cancer in age 62, my cousin had breast cancer in age 44 and is fine now after 4 years. and many other family history. I am on chemo now. 2 rounds od AC is done and 2 other rounds are on way!!! then i guess i will go on taxol for another 4 rounds. does anyone knows is it better to be her2+ or not?? As I know that her2 overexpress tumors are more aggressive and more risk of recurrence. right? it scares me! my tumor market test says: her2/neu ++ in right breast and + in left breast. is ++ overexpress or not? Do i have to go on Herceptin?
Guest guest
Hi ++ means you overexpress, so you will go on Herceptin after ac is done. Usually it's started with Taxol and then continued for a year's worth of treatments. It use not to be good to be her2+, because there wasn't any specific treatment. Herceptin specifically treats her2+ tumours. take care,
Guest guest
about my question of if her2++ needs to be treated by herceptin I found the answer in a website: here it is: http://www.breastcancer.org/research_herceptin_050002.html it says that:Results from the IHC test are reported as 0, 1+, 2+, or 3+. Only tumors with a 3+ score from an IHC test are considered HER2 positive. Tumors with IHC 2+ scores are considered borderline. ********* > > Hi > > ++ means you overexpress, so you will go on Herceptin after ac is done. > Usually it's started with Taxol and then continued for a year's worth of > treatments. > > It use not to be good to be her2+, because there wasn't any specific > treatment.
