Guest guest
Hello Everyone in the Community! I really need your help and guidance. My mother and I have been getting ourselves ready for gastric bypass surgey. My mother wanted the Lap-band and I the Rou-En-Y. However today she was just told that GHI\Blue Cross Blue Shield just changed their policy TEN days ago and will not pay for the hospitalization. My mother is SOOO upset! She has had weight gain as the result of a series of medical issues over the past three years, from acid reflux, high blood pressure to a hetial hernia. Her physician reccommended the surgery for her and now she can't get it. I feel soo bad, because of all of the time and effort that she has put in to get ready for her surgery that was supposed to be on 05/15/03. The dietician just told my mother that she had lost 15lbs, after being on Opti-fast for 1 week to prep for her surgery. Imagine being soo happy about losing half of the weight needed before surgery and the next minute being told it has to be canceled. Has anyone else experienced this problem with GHI\Blue Cross Blue Shield or any other insurance company? My mother was told that she might want to seek the help of an attorney. Does anyone know of an attornies that handle similiar issues? Any help that you can provided would be greatly appreicated, please e-mail me at boogiebabi@... or leave a message on the board. Thank you.
Guest guest
They will not pay for band or ANY surgery? I'm guessing they 're not paying for the band because, well, they don't want to have to redo it in 2 yrs. Also, the band is usually not going to treat reflux, but might make it worse. Guest guest
GHI\Blue Cross Blue Shield will not pay for any hospital stay. They will pay for the physician but not the care needed to stay in the hospital. They won't pay for my mother to get the lap-band or the Rou-En-Y, despite her other medical conditions that make her an excellent candiate. Can anyone help or give me some direction? Thanks. -Nikki > They will not pay for band or ANY surgery? > > I'm guessing they 're not paying for the band because, well, they don't want to have to redo it in 2 yrs. Guest guest
What the..........? What kinda flimsy thing is that? Will they pay for her in-pt stays as the organs fail from obesity? Grrrrrrrrrr. I don't even know you or your mom, but I'm still like a mamma bear whose cubs are threatened! Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
