He said he has prescribed it for patients in the past. He said they lost a small bit of weight with it,but the side effects and the cost (few insurance companies cover it)outweigh the benefits. He said it causes diarhea and worse. He also said it is very expensive. Talk to your Dr. It could be differant in your case. I asked the question here because I was talking to one of my sisters who has diabetes like me and she was telling me that she has been prescribed Meridia and she is losing weight. I will phone her and ask her if she has the side effects you mention. I have 4 sisters and I am the youngest at 61. Out of five sisters we are 2 with type 2 diabetes. I will report back later.
