We have blue lights on all of our equipment. Two brush trucks, Two engines,

Two ambulances. The Chief's car and my Asst. Chief car also both have red &

blue lights on them. My car also has two ambers in the back window and an

arrow-stick for when I am parked at a scene. I have been hearing the rumor for

years about blue. When we had a change in Police Chiefs a couple of years ago

it came up. He did not like us having blue but he could not make us change

them.

So, I ask, what is the problem that these cops have with EMS and fire having

blue lights? Do they not have enough to do?

Studies done by the Florida Highway Patrol show that red is the easiest to

see during the day and blue the easiest at night. I suggest that's why people

use them.

Seems to me the question should be what combination gives the best warning,

not some silly turf war over who can use what color?
