Guest guest
" Ain't scared to be yellow " is supposed to be a professional email address for a company taking over a county EMS contract and looking to hire current system providers? God help the citizens of Bastrop County... and to the current hard- working folks at Metrocare - take a look at this email - is this REALLY who you want to be working for? Guest guest
Mikey, here we go again. In speaking with the county yesterday, Guardian has not been awared anything, yet. The county meet on the 5th and will again next Monday to make the final decision. This is per the county judge's office. They may not even approve this deal with Guardian. However, they do have some other things working also. MetroCare is turning into another Rural Metro---leaving Texas as fast as they can. Guest guest
So why are they hiring people to start on the first? Mike > Mikey, here we go again. Guest guest
They probably have it, but the final meeting will be Monday. However, this could change. Guest guest
" MetroCare is turning into another Rural Metro---leaving Texas as fast as they can. " OMG! What Rubbish! I have had the PLEASURE of working along side MetroCare in Bastrop County as one of many county first responders, actually as President of our FRO for the last few years. MetroCare has gone far and above their contract with the county. And let me just add here, their response times were above the minimum requirements of the contract. MetroCare was kind enough to allow Bastrop County First Responders (BCFR) to hold their business and training meetings at their Bastrop facility. When we felt we needed better training and skills testing, MetroCare provided their folks free of charge to come out and help us out. They even brought along their own equipment for us to train with. Want to talk about the AED's that MetroCare has loaned us for use in field? Bastrop County finally had a service that could pay and retain good medics. We no longer fell like a training ground for newbie's. Folks were actually staying and enjoying their work. The trucks were well staffed, stocked and ready to roll and it really hasn't been that uncommon the past four or five months to have about seven units in the county at any given time. Yes, I sing praises for MetroCare, but they are well desired! Just this last December, when we lost a dear friend, first responder, Five Points VFD firefighter and Paramedic, while still on scene devastated by our loss, a MetroCare unit was dispatched make sure we were ok. That act of kindness and compassion didn't go unnoticed by our Fire Chief. I agree the shame is on Bastrop County. MetroCare was caught up in a political battle during the last election in our county. It is indeed our loss. The local paper just announced that Bastrop County Commissioners have agreed to take Guardian EMS of Columbus as its provider for up to a year. We will work with Guardian as we have all the others, but I do question their ability live up to the standard that MetroCare provided for all the reasons Mike has stated. MetroCare, sadly I bid you adieu! Thank you for everything you have done for us in Bastrop County. Bob, Eddie, Janine, Dawn, Manny, , Molly, Dispatch, all the medics out in the trenches God Speed my friends and God Bless! Sherry Five Points FF/EMT Past President BCFR I agree the shame and blame is on Bastrop County. It is indeed our loss. MetroCare is turning into another Rural Metro---leaving Texas as fast as they can. > > > On March 1st 2007, Guardian EMS will be the new provider for Bastrop > > County and we would like to speak with all curent employees. Guest guest
Sherry, Thank you for your well written words. There are many hard working people who have toiled long and hard to make EMS in Bastrop County work with you, the volunteers of BCFRA, ville VFD, and Elgin VFD being part of the success. Respectfully, J. Hicks, EMT-P > > > > > On March 1st 2007, Guardian EMS will be the new provider for > Bastrop > > > County and we would like to speak with all curent employees. Guest guest
And you're one of them, right, ? You no longer work for Metrocare WHY? Your involvement then and now with Bastrop County is WHAT, exactly? You personally stand to gain from Guardian coming in HOW, ? I can't wait to see how you answer this... Guest guest
Mike, Back in 2002, I moved to Bastrop County and have owned property in the county since 2003(yes, even while I was in Oregon). With an extended family base in the area, it seems as though one might even call me a " Bastropian " . Needless to say, I care about what happens here and will continue to pay attention to the details. My position as Safety/Risk Manager was eliminated by MetroCare as they streamlined a heavy management structure in the Austin Company. The rumor mill has me as a new manager for Guardian EMS; at last check this was not factual. While I believe you were hunting for more details, I have never been one to do my business on the internet. I will support the good works of others, comment to support statements which are of merit, and even debunk some myths. So I guess this would be the latter of these statements. As for the rest, I will leave it alone. Restpectfully, J. Hicks, EMT-P > >>> > >>>> On March 1st 2007, Guardian EMS will be the new provider for > >> Bastrop > >>>> County and we would like to speak with all curent employees. Guest guest
I hope the rumor turns to be factual if that is the direction you decide to go. I beleive it would be a good move for Guardian to bring you on in that capacity, as I feel you would be a great asset to Guardian and once again to the citizens of Bastrop County. you are a class act in my book, Holly and I wish the best!!
