Cathie/Marilyn - School issues

Dear Cathie and Marilyn-

I am amazed that in the view of useful (and in my estimation accurate and

correct) information people in control of your children's services would prefer

a different method! Moments like these really put my notions of tolerance and

affirming each individual's right to their own perspective into test......

Thank goodness our children have their parents though. In then end, the

affirmation of who they are has the most meaning from home. So many " regular

ed " children I used to work with in my youngest's son's classrooms who did not

have that in their lives, and were not eligible for special services in any

way..... truly disadvantaged. Don't even get me started on " No Child Left

Behind " .....

As for birthday's - A very happy one to you Cathie! Hugs from children are truly

one of the best gifts :o) I had one recently, and in kindness my

brother-in-law jested " What are you, 28 this year? "

I smiled but replied all too sincerely " Heaven's no. 45 seems just about right.

If all my life's events were compressed into only 28 years, it would be truly

horrifying. " :o)

Attachment is the cause of all suffering. Attachment they might " get it " .

Attachment that help or understanding is on the way. Attachment that things are

changing. It is what it is......I would often forget - having my child's needs

unmet or having my child be misunderstood within a school is not the exclusive

domain of children in special education. I realized that when I was of one

opinion and the school was of another with regard to our youngest son. In the

end, I was articulate and transparent enough about my experience, perspective

and concerns to dissuade their passion. In the end, my gut feeling about our

youngest prevailed, he is a success in the eyes of the school and (most

importantly) whole and valued in his own eyes, and we all lived happily ever

after :o)

With gratitude and openness I welcome and accept all miracles and willingness.

I give thanks for the dissolution of confusions and the clarity of understanding

for the greatest good of our children and all children. I give thanks for the

specialists who are striving at their best purpose, unifying their skills and

passions with our children's needs and benefits....

As Marilyn said, " Let the games begin! "

with the greatest love,

yuka

Re: Marilyn - School issues

Marilyn, Good luck with everything, I hope Perkins comes through for you.

I am waiting with baited breath for the Perkins evaluation. We are having a

horrible time with 's school this year as well. Perkins as well as the

cochlear implant team at CHOPS BOTH recommend continue use w/FM

System, but the Speech teacher and Teach of the Deaf disagree and have their

backs

up against the wall. They dont think it makes a difference (after 2 moths),

so they want to discontinue using it. I wish people would stop taking

everything personally, and remember we are trying to do the best thing for our

children. Now I got my husband involved - Its my birthday today, (dont ask my

age!) I said all I want is for you to get this matter resolved. So he was on

the phone first thing this morning with the CSE Admn. and hopefully the new

FM will be ordered today!

OK I vented, now i am off to a better day, woke me this morning with a

big hug!

Cathie, mom to

.
