Guest guest
Hello everyone! I haven't posted about Mighty Max for several months so I thought I should take a moment and brag about how amazing he has been doing lately! He truly is making GREAT progress! A few highlights include: crawling (commando style) a lot and quite fast I must say when he is coming to get me! cruising some with furniture (love, love, love this...so grown up!) kneeling pulling to stand and sitting back down and back up again... walking with me holding his hands (about 20 steps as of this weekend) EATING (yes, EATING!!! approximately 16 ounces a day orally!!!! I am in shock every day still about this!) climbing up on me or over a couch cushion waving hello / goodbye clapping (that took forever to learn b/c he had such an aversion to his hands being touched or his arms being moved) giving high fives (as of this weekend....love, love, love this new trick!) lots of motor skills, i.e. putting rings on the ring stand, putting things in/out of a box, pulling apart (and somewhat putting back together) Mega Blocks, etc. I'm sure there is much more but those are some of the fun ones! Pretty cool, right? Despite all this incredible progress (can you tell how proud I am of my lil' man!?!?!), we had his annual IEP last week and his developmental stage was quite low (nine months across the board) and that was a little discouraging. Even though you know your child is delayed, seeing the " score " can be frustrating. Oh well...I know the old mantra... " Max is on his own timetable and he'll get there when he gets there. " Oh and on another note....two " logistical " developments include: THE GOOD: Maxwell qualified and is now receiving the medical waiver so we have nursing care and our medical expenses are cut dramatically. WOO HOO!!! This was an amazing, incredible, wonderful accomplishment as of a few months ago!!! I am still astonished that we got this. We didn't qualify on funds so they tried him for the MIP (medically intensive program) and he qualified. What a true blessing for our family. THE BAD & THE UGLY: Divorce is STILL not final. We are waiting to hear from the judge. I do know that my ex's proposed order included absolutely no spousal support or medical expenses...even though he agreed that Max needs a full time caregiver so I cannot work. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Hopefully soon the judge will tell him that is absolutely not acceptable. We'll see! SO ANYWAY, that's our life in a nutshell! Love to everyone...I am very, very, very excited about meeting everyone (our " family " ) this summer in CA. YAY!
